I bet they're not pronounced at all the same though....
(hint, DH is African...I really should put a family pic in my siggy...it STILL amazes me some days you can put together me, him, and end up with a ZZ
) Like today when I had to explain to another MDC'er I MSN with who's never seen my son that she can't really assume the hairdresser did a bad job on his hair cause it's 'black hair'---it's NOT. He got Daddy's curls but MY hair type all the way.
and you just have to see a family pic to appreciate the part of DS's birth story where they place him on my chest and I say "HE"S WHITE!!" in this tone that just made everybody present crack up! (honestly, I just did NOT expect the child to come out with MY skin tone--I'd never seen a mixed or full-black newborn--apparently being born white is pretty common and they get darker LOL DS did.)
I think that's the plate I got from one of the mainstream parenting mags...
:
Thanks all
he is awfully cute, even with the horrible haircut he got yesterday. I'd post a pic but I can't get one that shows it in all its horrid glory...(I got a girl at the hair school who'd pretty obviously not done a toddler before...I should've saved the $$ and let DH buzz him. The whole point was I didn't WANT him buzzed! but he ended up buzzed to make it look better! if you want an idea dh said he looked like a wet chicken...
Dh's name is Eee-lee-ahs but most Americans *do* pronounce it e-lie-us and he lets them. (heck, I don't think *I* get the Arabic accent right!)
It's also one of DS's middle names. (He has 2, the family joke is my next child will have 3 and I'll just keep going till I eventually hit some kind of world record!
