My hair falls out a lot and I get clogged shower drains ALL the time. Drano doesn't even work on my hair anymore - I think my hair knows what I'm doing and it developed a chemical resistance to Drano and Liquid Plumber. Not only is that stuff toxic and has noxious fumes, it can get pricey to keep buying it all the time.
I actually use a cheap wire hanger to get all the gunk out my drains. I take one of those cheapo wire hangers that you get from the cleaners, and take the cardboard off it it (those kinds don't have the wire going all the way across). When you've removed the cardboard, you'll see that the wire has small hooks on both ends.
Straighten out the hanger. Unscrew or take off the drain cover/stopper and use the end with the little hooks, snake the wire down your drain. Rotate your wire around like you're stirring a big pot and hold it at an angle. Pull up. Do this a few times. You may need to grab with your fingers to help pull up everything since the hair gets wrapped around stuff. I use rubber gloves and a wad of toilet paper so I can remove the soap and muck covered hair.
You will see the nastiest stuff come up, but it clears the drain.
Flush your drain with some hot water for a minute after that. You'll be good to go and you'll hear water go down your drain again - no puddle of water to stand in when you're showering. Best of all, no chemicals
