You could try phytolacca. It really did work for me. I used to get mastitis a lot before I had phytolacca suggested to me by my midwife. The thing was, I considered mastitis so normal that with my third child I'd had a raging fever (104.5 or thereabouts) that had come and gone within three days, mentioned it to my MW whose response was "why on earth didn't you call me!?" Errr, because I didn't think there was anything you could do? She handed me the phytolacca on the spot and I haven't had to wade my way through mastitis since, where I had gotten it every couple of months throughout the nursing relationship with both of my older children.
The only time I went to a doc for my mastitis, I'd had a fever of 104 for a week solid, so my advice would be to sit tight but to go on in if it gets any worse or lasts more than a couple days longer than it already has. I have no good reason to be as doctorphobic as I am, so I'll readily admit I'm a little weird for not going in any earlier than I did.
