I tried it. And here's what I think...

DH started a new job out west, and I'm home trying to sell the house. He came home over the weekend, looked at the toilet bowls, and said they looked too bad for a house that's on the market. Now, I've been using vinegar, BS, and water for 3 months, but I'll admit it just wasn't cutting it on our mineral-crusted toilets. I was planning on ordering some toilet bowl cleaner from the next Frontier co-op, but until then I was stuck using BS, vinegar, and water (no HFS around, and grocery doesn't sell borax.) DH went out and got this, thinking it was good because it was "green". I figured it was better than bleach, would make him happy, and would tide me over.

First, it's "green" all right! Pale green gel coating the inside of your toilet bowl is NOT an appealing site. I wish they would leave the coloring out!

Second, it's a sickening citrus smell. Even though it's bleach-free, I've got a headache, and I can't even think about lunch. Thank goodness the boys are down for a nap on the other end of the house! I'm airing out the bathroom right now.

It works okay. Not as well as the regular Clorox toilet bowl cleaner I used to use, but better than BS and vinegar. Until I get my Ecover toilet bowl cleaner, I will use this once every other week, but I'll be sure to treat it just like I would regular "non-green" cleaner.

Hope that helps!

We have some serious hard water issues here and my toilet was nasty and green from it. Not even CLR got rid of it, but this stuff did. My toilet is now de-calcium-ized. I thought it was great, but for regular use, I just use baking soda.

Method has a new line of toilet bowl and bathroom cleaners out now. I don't know if they work or not, but its worth a shot.

I think it works fine, but I clean my toilets once a week, so there is never any build-up to remove. All the other kinds at Publix have bleach in them.

I use this now and really like it. We have a bad calcium/lime build up problem around here and it keeps the toilet bowl clean.
I also like the smell, didn't find it overpowering at all, much the opposite.

It also fits in our budget. Still use Borax and BS etc. Use the Clorox every couple of weeks.

Someone on MDC once replied to a post of mine bemoaning my clogged up drain that instead of a potion to pour on it she had often found mechanical methods worked the best. (She recommended I snake the clog out.) I often think back on that advice. I have found a toilet bowl cleaner that is a pumice stone on a handle - http://www.amazon.com/Pumice-TBR-6D-...5977189&sr=8-3. It works pretty well when I have a stubborn ring. You might look for it. It was just in the mainstream grocery store.

Pumice stone does work wonders on the crusty lime/calcium.
