I saw a thread like this on another DDC, but I can't find it anymore. I'm planning to CD this little one, but need to know of a good easy-to-maneuver registry. Also, I already have lots of prefolds, but could really use some tips on covers or other types of diapers. Thanks in advance for your help!

We're planning on CD'ing also. There is SO much information about there and so many opinions regarding which covers, etc. are best that it can be overwhelming. I found this site helpful for sorting through some of the terms/definitions/types, etc.

As far as registering, we were able to find most of the kinds of CDs we wanted on Amazon and registered there. (But part of my reasoning for using Amazon is that my family is not the most tech-savvy or adventurous and I figured that would be familiar ground at least for most of them.)

I registered with the universal click button on Amazon.

I love fitteds and wool covers! http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com has some good ones, Disnea and Aristocrat specifically. They're good for nighttime. http://www.diaperware.com/ has Sugar Peas Wool covers and they rock too. I plan to use Kissaluvs in the beginning for my fitteds. I also like Goodmama diapers but I can't really afford them.

I'm also going to get some cheap PUL covers, Bummis and Thirsties are the best ones.

Just wanted to let you know that I registered at Target and they now sell Bumgenius. So if you like that type of diaper you could register for them there. I actually really like the bumgenius for the fact that the diaper grows with the baby. I don't like them because I really don't like velcro. You have to go online to Target.com to find them.

(DDC crashing (saw on the new posts)--my child was born last week). I registered for cloth diapers and covers from a few places. Did not get any, but got several packages of Huggies and Pampers. Go figure. So, I had to order them myself (and still, DH is not on board with cloth).

You will probably get a lot of info. on this but IMO, the All-in-One dipes were fantastic. We used both the pocket dipes and the ones with the inserts snapped in. We also liked the Cuddlebuns and the FuzziBunz were a good workhorse diaper that anyone can use (husbands, grandparents etc...). We found that it is nice to have an assortment though. We have a few dipes w/ covers, some flat dipes, some wool covers/longies, we bought some used, made some, and bought some new. This is also baby #3 so we have built quite a stash. Good luck!

Oh, tips on diapers... Well, we have 40 bumgenius and have used them exclusively since 1 month on. DS was 7.5 pounds at birth, and they were just a LITTLE bit too small. But after a month of growing, they fit him peachy fine
DS is now 25.5 months and he's still on the medium setting, though I think we're getting pretty close to moving up to hte last biggest setting. They have been great - super easy to use, anybody can change his diaper, etc. They go on/off just like a sposie would, and they've been super easy to take care of - we pull the liner out, drop it in our diaper pail (just a standard trash can with lid beside the toilet), then drop the diaper in ontop... if it was/is poopy it gets rinsed out in the toilet and sprayed with a little Bac Out. I wash them on my longest setting on HOT with a little Allens Naturally detergent and an extra rinse, and then dry on medium. We have a couple minor stains but nothing major. And mostly the stains are pink from the PinxAV that we use to keep diaper rash at bay
(DS has a tendency not to say anything when he poops so he occasionally sits in it for a while, which inevitably gives him a rash....)

We use prefolds or fitteds with covers. I get them form all different places. I have made lots of dipes in the past and will for this baby too!

I make a fitted that is just like kissaluvs (my fav) but I can make 10-12 for what 2 cost me - LOL!

I use pockets or AIOs for traveling and at night - my absolute fav - wool

Good luck!!

I registered at one of the places mentioned with DS but got none. Not a single diaper. At least no one bought me disposables either so I am not going to complain.

In the first few months we stuck with prefolds. I make smaller babies (DS was 6 pounds 6 ounches at 41weeks ) and all my one size were way to big as was some of the newborns. When I got the hang of folding and snappying the prefolds it was the perfect solution as they can fit any size baby.

Wow, Jen -- I wish I could do that. Maybe I should hunt for some patterns online. Even if I fail miserably, maybe whatever I make could be an "at-home" diaper.

Has anyone noticed Target is now carrying Bumgenius 3.0? I don't really need anything from Target, so I put eight on a registry there and nothing else. Maybe someone will at least buy me a gift card and I can pick up a couple.

I second Jillian's Drawers (http://www.jilliansdrawers.com/)... I live near their "real world" store and they're great people. I haven't used their online customer service, but their in person advice and assistance is wonderful. Plus they don't mind if the girls play and make noise while I spend an hour dithering over something and then don't actually buy anything!

(my test for a truly mama/kid friendly shop... I hate stores where I feel pressured to spend money to "make up for" either the amount of time I've been there or the noise being made by the girls)
