i (like a lot of other mommas on this sight) am almost obsessed with cloth diapering and deffinatly in love with it.

for the health of my baby and the planet
and b/c i feel a sense of pride when i feel like i am taking something out of the hands of a giant corporation and putting it back into the hands of mothers and families.

that said

i have been starting to host "how to" workshops in my own home.
i have ran into so many women who look at my cd's longingly and say things like: i WANTED to cloth diaper but (some combo of) i didn;t know how, i didn't know what to buy/where, (the worst) everyone i told looked at me like i was a freak and told me it would be too hard/impossiable....

i had all of those problems/feelings when i first decided to cd...i tried doing internet searchs but was overwhelmed etc
and luckily the it will be too hard comments did not stick b/c i was one of 4 cd'ed babies and my momma lived on a hippy commune without running water and electricity ( i remember walking to the spring with buckets, bioling the waters of the wood stove, and watching my momma wash all and hang all those dipes......)
i have a washer and dryer....how could it really be too hard.

so i eventualy through trial and error found my system
and i am so thankful and happy every day that i do it

so now i am trying to pass it on and here is how:

i just target any pregnant woman or mom with baby and say: are you at all interested in cding?

i have a little card with my number and few quick facts abou the joys and benifits of cding
and then i hold weekly workshops in my home where i give people the info of how to do it, where to buy for the best prices, the termonology of cding, adn also a list of facts about money saved and environmental and health problems involved with sposies....

i ask for a $10 donation for the work shop but make it VERY CLEAR that i in no way want any one to feel obligated to pay anything b/c i am soooooooooooooooo happy to share what i know for free forever b/c i feel so good about the cause and i just want to pass it on.

so if any of you are interested about doing this i could even email some of my fact sheets to you (i am in the works of making a type of booklet/handout thingy)

so that we can continue this cloth diapering revolution

PS i also encourage all of you to request that your natural food stores and food co-ops start selling cloth diapers and covers INSTEAD of expensive sposies....there are probably even local WAHM moms who would be happy to make them and sell them to the stores (my co-op here just started selling them with great success....due to my urging)
thanks

I like your ideas! My midwife asked me if I would be interested in holding this type of class for her free mama/baby health clinic and at the time I wasn't "ready" but I feel that I could be now--what a great idea I think so many people out there who aren't online or just haven't read diaper related message boards like this one think it's all prefolds and plastic pants.

I will be watching for others' ideas!

I really like their "get Real" pamphlet. However I am having trouble printing it out on one sheet. And my Dh is too cheap to buy a color cartridge for the printer, so it doesn't look cute or anything.

I'm in! I own a dance academy and have been slowly incooperating ap parenting and cding etc. I would like some info that I can put in the mag rack.

Hey does anyone have any old issues of mothering that would be free for shipping? I would like to offer that in the waiting room rather than mainstream parenting mags. I am broke though and can't get a subscription right now.

Not sure about MOthering magazine, but you can get free back issues of Compleat Mother magazine (about breastfeeding with ads for cloth, slings, etc). THose are great for distributing!
