Just curious how many diapers would be needed for twins? I have already bought some, but I'm not sure how many would be a good number.

I hope to only have to do laundry every couple of days. I like the AIOs and fitteds best (at least I do with dd who is 16 months...started cding with her later, so no clue on how many newborn diapers I should start off with).

Also, any diapers you'd recommend or strongly discourage? Any covers you love or hate?

Thanks!!!

We use cpfs with Nikky covers, and the system works pretty great. In the beginning we used a lot more dipes/covers than we do now. . . all those bf poops! The first several weeks, we were using 160 diapers a week (we had a service). My babies were almost five months old when I started washing diapers at home. I have 3 dozen prefolds, and wash them every other day, sometimes less often. We have 8 covers, and this is PLENTY (we really don't need this many at this point, but that is partially because we have really good quality covers that can be used over and over and over again, and our babies hardly ever poop). In the beginning, for the first three months, it would have been great to have 12 covers because they'd poop all the time, and almost every time they'd poop we'd need to use a new cover. We were washing covers everyday then
.

Congrats on your
pregnancy!

Thanks for the replies! I already have some prefolds and some fitteds. I've liked the kissaluvs diapers on my dd (16 months), but I've only been cding with her for a couple of months. We are using prorap covers right now and they seem to be working out fine. I guess I'll have to get a few more cpfs and start figuring out the snappi soon!

Thanks again. Any more suggestions are welcome!

Destinye: Congratulations on your pregnancy too! You should check out the diapering forum for lots of ideas/info. about cloth diapers. I get my covers from www.babybunz.com. You can get chinese prefolds lots of places. Many of the banner ads flashing in front of you here at MDC are for online stores that sell cloth diapering supplies. Unfortunately, it's hard to find quality cloth diapering supplies in real-life stores (I sometimes have a fantasy about opening up a shop myself to fill that hole around here. . . but then I remember that I have two babies :LOL).

Don't worry about never having changed a dipe before. Dp hadn't either, and she did ALL of the diapering in the first three weeks after our boys were born. By the time I got around to changing a diaper, Dp was the expert, and had to show me how to do it (and I had had lots of diaper changing experience before)!

It's so nice to see mamas of twins choosing cloth!

Hi there

Thanks for the info and will check it out, I have been so busy learning about the pregnancy and birth part, I forgot about what comes after! So now I have to learn about diapers and breastfeeding! I have just been overwhelmed with so many ads for diapers, and not even sure what I need to order when I do lol! Wonderful pictures of your babies on your link, they look really healthy!

Thanks again!

congrats to both of you!
I use cloth with my three (twins plus one) and I am so glad I do... it is so easy
we personally used kushies basics and bumkins but there's lots of great stuff out there and even the basics are easy enough (cpfs)

I now have a smallish amount of diapers - 10 for each. In other words, enough to get through the day. We use Fuzzi Bunz (and a few Happy Heinys) with various stuffers, but mostly Joey Bunz. I pre-stuff them and stack them next to the changing station, so they're literally as easy as sposies, and dh loves using them too.

One secret I did was get colored or printed FBs/HHs which I double or triple stuff for naps/nighttime. The rest are white, which means single stuffers (regular use). This color coding makes it even easier.

10 diapers per baby lasts all day - never run out. But I wash, dry, and pre-stuff again the diapers every night, after dd and ds are asleep. I like squeaky clean dipes, and I didn't want to spend $$$$ on tons of diapers to last several days.

Feel free to PM me - love to share about nursing twins. And other fun twin tips, lessons learned, etc.

Just wanted to say that my girls are 3, and while I wouldn't do it any other way (except to use all in ones) I did have to wash diapers every single day to keep up with the volumn! If you don't have any other children, you may be able to stretch it out to 2-3 days. I just hated the thought of those dirty dipes sitting in the bucket, stinky and wet.

We just recently stopped using night time diapers because both girls are no longer wearing dipes. One is fully potty trained (for the last 4 months) and the other will be soon. The second one wears those horrible pull ups to sleep in.

Good luck! It will be the time of you life, in retrospect!

When in January? Me, too, on the 26th. Have you found the Jan/Feb mamas thread over on the pregnancy board? There are three of us twin mamas over there!

Advice from someone who's been there! Although info. is no guarantee, do NOT neglect learning about breastfeeding before you have to do it! In fact, get yourself to a LLL meeting! http://www.lalecheleague.org

We muddled through, barely, but I sure wish I'd been better prepared.

So does that mean YOU have two on the way? As in two sets of twins in a row? Or are you talking about Fluerette having two on the way?
