I am due in 5 weeks and I want to take my cloth dipes to the hospital with me but I was wondering how long meconium lasts. Is it just one changing or is it that entire day? Should I use sposies for the meconium or not? I don't know what to do, please help me. This is my first child and my first time cloth diapering. Thanks. BTW, I have Kissaluv fitteds.

It varies. My children had mec for a day and a half, then transitional poos, thnen bf poos.

We cloth diapered from the beginning and had no problems with mec.

What are transitional poos like and did the meconium stain your dipes?

The mec didn't stain.

Transitional poos are yellowish brown, thick, but not as thick as mec. Kinda half mec, half bf yellow seedy poo.

I had no problem with the meconium staining (we used Kissaluvs too). The yellow breastfed poo is what stains. The transitional poo is dark meconium mixed with bf poo. It's not as thick as meconium, but not as runny as bf poo.

FYI - I used fleece liners in my Kissaluvs to prevent a lot of staining.

What are fleece liners, how can I get some, and how do I get them to stay in the dipe? They don't snap in right?

I got mine on eBay, but you could make them pretty easily. Just get some thin fleece at the craft store and cut it to fit. You just lay them in the diaper. They stay in place.
