Hi all!

I found out we're expecting twins. Seeing as I didn't start using cds with my dd until much later, I have no idea how many I would need when they are infants. I would love any suggestions, even if it's for singleton babies so I could double the amount or at least get a better idea. I would also love to hear what kind of cd you liked best with newborns and why.

Thanks muchly!

I think in the case of multiples, it depend on your desired washing routine/washer capacity. Figure out how often you are going to do dipes/how may your macine will hold. Then figure 12-18 dipes per newborn per day. HTH

I would try to find out the capacity of your washer and go from there since you will want to be washing that often anyways. Maybe three dozen? Then you could wash two dozen at a time and still have some for babies to be wearing?

Good luck.

My SIL is cd'ing twins about 8 weeks old now, and she has roughly 40 pocket diapers with about 70 prefolds and hemp inserts. She washes every other day.
Her babes are boy/girl so she has a lot of neutral stuff. She keeps the dirties in the laundry room and uses a min shower for the poopy ones.
She is also a single parent of the twins, 2 yr old, and 4 yr old so she doesn't have a lot of extra time but still manages to do the extra laundry load every othe day.

i have twins plus one in diapers and I am actually quite limited by my washer capacity. I have about 36 diapers all told when you add in my night time system I just have to wash every other day and sometimes everyday.

Hey Fleurette!
I'm in the same boat Our twins are due in January and I didn't cd my 2 1/2 yr old dd when she was a newborn

From the various newborn threads I've read, 36 seems to be a common number suggested for singletons. I don't think I'm going to get 72 diapers : but I'm trying for 50 or so.

I've got mostly Kissaluvs size 0 and Fuzzi Bunz X-Small. I've also got a few Lukes Drawers Hugs, which are completely adorable but seem really big and some Happy Heinys small. Since twins are *usually* smaller than singletons, I'm focusing on slightly more in smaller/newborn sizes than I would if I were just having one!

It looks like we're having 2 girls so I'll be going full out for girly dipes

My 1 little itty bitty bum will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. Not a day passes that we don't use about 20 diapers. I bought 3 dozen planning to wash every 2 to 3 days. Instead I have to wash daily, sometimes every day and a half. I just ordered another dozen prefolds. That will give me 48 prefolds and 5 AIOs. Hopefully now I will get a short break from washing (err, after the new ones arrive and I *break* them in, lol).

I have been cd my twins since they were 2 weeks old. I do laundry every other day, thats about all my washer will hold comfortably- but sometimes it can be every day depending on their pooping moods. I have two five gallon buckets that used to have cat litter and when they are full it is time to start thinking about doing a load.

I would say have about 3 to 4 dozen of whatever type of diapers you want to use. I like fitteds with a wool cover and prefolds with a wool or bummis cover. I have a few pocket diapers that we use when we go out.

I find with twins you really don't need double the diapers, you just do laundry more often.
