Yikes - I'm 9w4d pregnant, and my pants are getting tight on me. I've got a small frame normally, but somehow I expected to make it to the summertime before having to buy maternity clothes. And I don't have a bump - it just looks like I gained a little weight around my middle. Is this happening to anyone else?

Yup. I haven't gained any weight, although it looks like I have with the bloating. But already pants/shorts that were loose and comfy a couple of weeks ago are tight on me. I am a little overweight (about 4lbs for the upper BMI limit)

When my bladder is full there is a definite bump, otherwise not so much

me too! I'm only 7 weeks though

It's my 4th though, and I was just pregnant in January/February...but I'm definitely starting to bloat up. Haven't gained any weight, and I can still wear them, but it won't be long before they're just too tight.

Thankfully I have lots of materntiy clothes already!

I'm exactly 9 weeks and I am having trouble with all of my pants. I don't look pregnant or anything though; it's just flab that has migrated!

I'm almost there at 7w6d. Dh will have to get my maternity tote out of storage in the next week or two, I suspect (which is fine, IMO since I want my baby development books out of the same tote LOL).

I'm with you! I've been using the hair elastic trick on my jeans for almost two weeks now, and I'm only 8 weeks! I got a shirt from H&M for my birthday in April, but wasn't keen on the colour, so I returned it and got... maternity pants instead.
Last pregnancy, I got to about 14 weeks before I needed to undo the button on my jeans when I sat down, and I made it quite comfortably to about 18-19 weeks without any "real" maternity clothes. Not so much this time! I think I actually ovulated twice, but I refuse to entertain the notion of twins, cause seriously, what are the odds?!
I think different pregnancies are just different, and once your body has done this once, it seems quick to remember the shape of things and eager to let that belly (or the flab, or the flab migration, or all of the above) loose!

I'm super bloated -- only one baby, but it's my fourth -- and I totally look 5 months pregnant.

I've been doing the hair elastic trick, too and I am 9 weeks today. I feel like the expanding uterus is pushing out the existing belly fat and thus making me a little poofy in the midsection. But it does seem to be different at different times of the day or bigger when I have to pee. I am into the dresses and I think I will be seeking out empire waisted dresses as a wardrobe staple from here on in, pants are just not working for me!

8 weeks and my clothes are already not fitting. This is baby #6, so I guess that is the way it goes! I am a little bummed because last time (baby 5) I was able to put maternity clothes off until 15 weeks. I just look thick in the middle, not really pregnant.

I was like that from about 8 weeks this time...I'm 11 weeks and look so big that people that I don't know that well are commenting and asking when I'm due and if it is twins. Yikes! This is my 4th but with my 1st I didn't show until well into the 2nd trimester and I've never shown this early before. ETA: I asked my midwife yesterday, because my fundus is higher than it "should" be (midway up to my belly button) and she shrugged it off as this is the 4th, people get bigger faster.

Yup, me too! They still fit, but not comfortably and I even lost weight.

I have noticed that my uterus is above my pelvic by 3" and I feel the bump when I lay on my tummy. I didn't expect clothes problems until at least 12 weeks. Ah well, it's all for .

This is also pg #4 for me so I expect to pop really soon. Since early on though I've just been so terribly bloated around the middle! My jeans make me look 4 months pregnant.

Wow. I'm awesome. This is my FIFTH child.

Although it is my fourth pregnancy, so maybe I get credit for thinking of it that way.

Wow, I didn't expect this many responses. I took my hair out if it's ponytail and tried the "hair tie trick." DH thought it was brilliant, lol. And I felt instantly better.

I discovered the Target by me has a maternity section, so I picked up their version of the Bella Band, a skirt, and a dress that's very flowy and stretchy. I don't think I've been this confortable in the past two months.

Well, this is my 5th and I am not showing. I just look like I've put on a few pounds... 3 or 4, which I have, LOL. I feel fat at the end of the night, but that's about it. I'm 8 weeks 1 day.
If your uterus is up that high it could be twins or miscalculated dates or just that you're getting bigger faster. It can also be other, less pleasant things, so if you're worried about it, bring it up with your midwife again. If she shrugs you off and you're still concerned, do not ignore it! Get a second opinion. Trust your own intuition. If you think you need to get something checked out, do so!
