Where do you tidy and organized mamas put things that can be worn again?? Things like sweatshirts and jeans that aren't really clean, but don't need to be washed yet.

It seems weird to put them back in the drawer - but they sure pile up on the flat surfaces otherwise. help!!

This is an issue for my household, too. I tend to pile my wear-again-stuff on the end of the ironing board, DH on top of the dresser. It looks messy...

We got those cheap over-the-door hangers from Target. The one on the bathroom door is where I hang my bras or shirts I sleep in. The one of the closet door is where dh and I hang our jeans or sweats if we want to wear them again (also because we change out of outside clothes when we are home).

I fold pants up and put them back in the drawer. Dh's shirts and trousers get hung up again in a particular spot in his closet, so he knows they've been worn once. Sweatshirts usually accumulate on top of the dresser.

I hang them back up or fold them and put them away (depending on the item). If they're not clean enough to do that, they're not clean enough period and they go into the wash.

I put a pretty basket next to my dresser and put them in there. Typically work clothes go in and become tomorrows house clothes. (Casual clothes kinda job
)

Tomorrow I will be putting a laundry basket in front of my kid's dresser for half-worn clothes, as the little mr. just got a bunch of hand me downs and wants to change 5 x a day. I've also used a separate drawer in a dresser for already worn as I like to know what is in the drawers is right from the washer. But I like to get the most use out of things before washing them.

If it's not been worn for long then it's hung back up or folded and placed back in the draw or on the shelf. If it's been worn for more than 4 hours then it's folded and put over the bathtub rim or just dropped by the side of the bed for the next day.

I have a small bench (or in the past used a chair) and so does dh. DD's go on top of her laundry hamper (it has a lid).

IF you're trying to cut back on the quantity, remind yourself to just let it go and toss them in the laundry weekly. I just started trying to do this & it keeps them from getting out of control.

We have an 8-hook over-the-door holder. We hung it on the outside of our master bathroom door since it shows the least in this position and is the most accessible. I have the left 4 hooks (2 upper and 2 lower) and DH has the right 4 hooks (2 upper and 2 lower). I sweep through tossing things in the laundry once a month or so. DH is usually pretty good about his own clothes with the only exception being swim trunks and bike shorts. He tends to leave those well beyond reasonable second use time frames. He rarely overloads his hooks. I, on the other hand, used to look in this area only if I was looking for something specific, which meant it filled up fast and got overloaded easily. Now, however, I make it a point to start getting dressed near this area and choose from here first. Viola! No more overload.

Sweaters and sweatshirts go back in with the clean sweaters and sweatshirts.

"Dress clothes" that I don't want to dry clean after two hours' wearing just go back with the clean dress clothes.

Casual clothes get hung on the hooks on the back of the bathroom door or draped over the bedroom chair, but only until I'm doing that category of laundry - if they haven't been re-worn by then, they just go in with the load.

Me too.
If I don't want them in the drawer, then I figure I'm not going to want to wear them the next time either. Dh, though, tends to leave his to-be-worn-again clothes on the rocking chair in our room, and by the end of the week, I just throw them all in the laundry hamper.

So glad you posted this question!

DS's just go on top of his dresser. It's usually only 1 or 2 items and his dresser is clear otherwise.

Mine, sadly, usually go in a heap on the bathroom floor over by our laundry hampers. Or on the vanity if I intend to wear them again the next day. I also usually have a pile draped over some boxes in my walk-in closet.

I don't like to hang them up again because I usually have a 2-wear limit on clothes before laundering them and if I hang them up I'll lose track. I like the idea of having a separate hanging section, but I'm not sure I have room for that.

On laundry day I do usually swoop through and grab everything anyway.

We grew up tucking our pj's under our pillows before we made the bed. I think I'd do that, except dh is still sleeping in the bed when I go to work in the morning. So my pjs are always on the bathroom floor.

I just realized that I don't qualify at all as a "tidy and organized mama" that the OP addressed!

We have a name for these clothes and their appropriate place. lol PURGATORY!

Not clean, not dirty. DH hasn't found a place for his, but I have a devoted Purgatory drawer, and I try to go in there for clothes before my dresser. Times like this when the weather is changes so many times a day, not to mention one day to the next, I have sweatshirts in there that I haven't needed in days that I'm pulling out today, etc.

DS has a Purgatory shelf in the living room - it just ended up there because that's where we used to change him - it'll be moving to the bathroom when I get things re-arranged in there.
