Cluster Feeding? What is it?

i read in another post the mentioning of the "clusterfeeding time" what's that? Could it be the evening time when my dd wants to do nothing but be on the boob, and nothing else calms her down except for eating and even when she pops off because my letdown is overwhelming her, she cries fiercely to get back on, and then she throws up a big huge milk barf? Could that be it?

Because at that time each night, i try to force breaks on her so she can feel that she's full. Just when I give up and say something like, "okay, but i think we're heading down barf road" as i give her the boob, she pukes out a bunch of milk. Then, we are frantically cleaning ourselves up, and cleaning barf out of her hair and ears, and preparing yet another load of laundry while our dd decides she's in a good mood now, smiling and cooing.

good times.

Well, it is all that but doesn't have to include the vomitting. Have you tried just using one side during that time?

okay, this post made me LMAO!!!! i had to respond. YES, that is clusterfeeding, but it doesn't always entail the crying and spitting up. though we have that part in our house sometimes, too. it sucks! i just posted in another thread about this exact problem. i hope someone has some solutions. and i hope it's nothing i'm eating--though i kind of don't think it is, since it seems to occur in the evenings, or sometimes in the day when she's really tired/about to nap.

i NEVER know what to do when she wants the boob but is crying and screaming about getting it. it confuses the hell out of me!!
