If anyone knows of hospital CNM's that do/support VBAC's?

I'm still deciding on the path I'm going to take with this baby (homebirth/birth center/hospital) after my son's cesarean. We are not in Portland until Oct/Nov and I'm due Feb. 2007

Any ideas or experiences are greatly welcome.

I haven't heard of any. I hear murmurs of some MDs, but no CNMs. It's so unfortunate, really.

I'm sorry. I will say that the Portland chapter of ICAN has incredible meetings and resources. I have a feeling they would be a great connection once you arrive. Have you thought about emailing them? Let me know if you need the info.

I am having a VBAc with the midwifes at OHSU in march. they have been so supportive and excited to work with me and no one has said a word about there being a problem. A good friend recently had a VBAC with them and had a great experience. They will not let you have a water birth tho... bummer. Some dumb rule. The midwifes told me they have a 80 % success rate with VBACs. I don't know how accurate that is, you know how those stats go..(not the hospital, the midwifes, the hospital's rate if you go with an OB is much, much lower).

Thanks for the replys... I did call OHSU and the CNM's will support VBAC. I'll start there and work my way through other options when we are actually in Portland.

FYI: There is a posting on Craigslist for volunteers needed at OHSU for a VBAC study, you get paid and they give you info on VBAC's after. Intresting to know.
