So, my son is still an infant, but I highly doubt the public school system is going to change radically enough for my taste in 4 years... so im getting a headstart on figuring out if i want to HS or private or what... and it got me thinking, what about a co-op? so like find a group of mothers with kids around the same age, rent a house and take turns teaching the kids different things that we each may be better at, and also free up some time for each of us for chores and other children. Would this be legal? Ive heard of pre-school co-ops, but nothing beyond that...

There are homeschooling coops and they're as different as the homeschoolers themselves. I've never heard of preschool coops actually.... I'd love to find one, so long as the purpose was fun and socializing.
I can teach numbers and colors and letters myself.....

Co-ops vary greatly. You can join an already existing co-op that meets once a week for a variety of subjects taught by moms and hired instructors. You can start up something yourself. I knew of one group of 3-4 families who were using similar curriculum (I think it was the Waldorf-y Oak Meadows) and took turns teaching the children.

I would love to start up a co-op in my area, especially if the parents were interested in teaching the lessons themselves and sticking with it at least through elementary. It would save me the heartache of giving up homeschooling my daughter in a year or so since my partner is insistant that she attend school.
