I want to build a small cold frame, but my dh is concerned about me using tempered glass in case one of the kids falls on it and it breaks. Has anyone used another material that is comparable and environmentally-sound?
Don't know if this is helpful...we picked up an old skylight (plexiglass I think) from a garage sale for free last summer. I plan on making one for the late winter/early spring crops. If you have a rebuilding center nearby, might be worth a look.
I haven't tried this, but just read in MEN that old shower doors or patio doors work really well. I know shower doors are tempered glass, and I think patio doors are, too (someone correct me if I am wrong, please!).
