is it ok to give CLO supplement every day? is that too much vitamin A for a toddler? any worries about the impurities from the liver? it's Nordic Naturals which I know is a good brand, but I'm just wondering, since DD is only 29" and 22 lbs if the vit A could be too much for her at this age...

thanks!

The bottle should indicate how much vitamin a is in the oil. The max vit A for under 3 years is 600mg/day. Here's a good link with info: http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/foodnut/09315.html

Don't forget the vitamin content in any other supplements she may take (like a multivitamin or fortified foods). FYI, fish oil (instead of CLO) does not have the high vitamin content, but still has the omega 3s.

You might want to ask at the Traditional Foods forum under Nutrition. CLO is a standard supplement over there, so I'm sure they are knowledgeable about doses as well as the good brands, etc.

yeah I'm never sure where to post certain questions, there are so many forums

I was giving her the Pro EFA Nordic Naturals before, but I figured she probably does need some CLO, I doubt she gets enough vit A in her diet. Her diet is becoming a major issue as she's very iron deficient and has special needs that make eating ....challenging....but she's not on any other supplements besides iron and sodium ascorbate.

so 600 mg per day- but doesn't the vit A build up over time? I remember watching a program about vit A supplements causing health problems, but I got the impression that was the synthetic form, whereas CLO is obviously in a natural form, so it's safer?

Email the company - I did. Apparently too much can cause the runs, and they suggested a dose for my then 8 mo old DD. There are children's brands with less concentration of the adullt ones.
