My DD2 is only 6 weeks old and this morning I noticed a tiny red bump on my lip. Sure enough the cold sore is here. Now I am worried sick that she will or did catch it I know I did not kiss her at night or before I noticed. But I am still worried. I surely will not be kissing her until this sore is gone. If you get these annoying things and have young children, did you avoid passing it to them? I read online that Herpes can kill or cause sever damage to a newborn. But I don't seem to find anything about the age of a baby When is it particularly dangerous, to a newborn up to what age? If that helps at all, my DD2 is exclusively breastfed.
Did you have a cold sore with a newborn? How did you deal with it? Anything I can do to speed up the process of recovery?
Oh these worries... Will they ever go away?

I've been suffering from cold sores since I was in my teens. I've never passed them a long to anyone in my family: children(at any age) or DH. I wouldn't worry too much!

I caught cold sores from my Dad when I was very small (?6months maybe) - and had no problems then.

I still get them occasionally but make sure whenever I have one and am around a tiny baby I don't kiss them, and make an effort not to touch my lips etc. I've not passed them on to anyone (to my knowledge). I think just being aware of it will make it less likely you pass them on to DD.

Funnily - my Mum has never had a cold sore, despite me and my father having them regularly, so she says she's "immune". I wonder if some people just aren't susceptible to the virus, or their immune systems fight it off very effectively the first time...
