Neither animal is really liking me today, I'm sure. Peter got his rabies vax today so I bought each of them a collar since Peter has a tag now. He's not exactly fond of it. He keeps trying to attack it. hehehe

Paz is doing the same thing.

I may just take the things off. They keep scratching at their necks.

I was in the mood for buying something for them.
And since Kira wears her rabies tag, why not Peter?

I wasn't going to vax them, but honestly, I have enough struggles in my life not vaxing the kids, Max's SN evals, my home-birthing choices, extended nursing, and everything else, I don't have the energy to fight for an animal the same way I fight for my rights as a parent and fight for the rights of my kids.

We keep a collar on our indoor cat because

a) it has his pet insurance details on it - if he is hurt and we have to get to the vet NOW we don't have to remember to grab any info/if he escapes and is hurt then theoretically people will be more likely to get treatment for him knowing he has insurance

b) it has his license details on it; this means the county will bring him home if they find him instead of taking him to a shelter, if he should escape

c) we take him for walks so this way he is already used to the collar when we put the harness on him

Sometimes when we are both home & not expecting anyone (ie the door will not be opened) we'll take his collar off and give him some special scratches and rubs but mostly he just doesn't seem to care that it's there.

Maybe I'm paranoid but it is just that extra layer of protection should he ever escape or be injured.

But I don't get it, wouldn't it be easier to just not take them? I think I'm missing something, I usually am!

Paz has worms, so we took them both in to get tested and meds and whatnot.
They said Peter needed a rabies shot so I went ahead and let them do it.

If nobody had worms I probably wouldn't have taken them in till it was time for a neuter.

I have a collar on my indoor cat, Daisy. Mainly, the apartment complex I live in requires all animals to have ID collars and tags on. To tell you the truth, Daisy could care less that somethings around her neck. Plus, since she's used to having a collar on, it was very easy to harness train her so she could go on walks around the complex.

There is a collar that is made just for cats that my cat loves. They are called Beastie Bands, and they are softer and lighter than other collars, stretch really good in case she were to get hung up on something, and they even glow in the dark. Plus, the company that makes them has several different colors and prints. Daisy has a purple Beastie Band that says "Crazy Cat" all over it and shows a cat doing backflips.

DH demanded I take the cute collars off the cats. They kept shaking their heads to hear the tags clink. I keep them for when we travel with the cats.
