Not being quite old enough (born in 79 to parents who didn't listed to this stuff) to realize Aerosmith remade it, I just now found out they didn't originally sing Come Together.

Anyway, can anyone decipher this song for me? The bolded parts specifically

Here come old flattop, he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball, he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please

He wear no shoeshine, he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger, he shoot coca-cola
He say "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me

He bag production, he got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard, he one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease
Come together right now over me

[Right!
Come, oh, come, come, come.]

He roller-coaster, he got early warning
He got muddy water, he one mojo filter
He say "One and one and one is three"
Got to be good-looking cos he's so hard to see
Come together right now over me

Hang on here, little lady, and let me find my teeth so I can tell ye what it means.

Drug references, all of it. Timothy Leary ran for governor of California in 1969 after he got out of jail and his campaign slogan was "Come together, join the party," (the party being drug culture) and the slogan gave Lennon the idea for the song. I don't know what all the bolded references mean, but once you read them through a drug lens, well...muddy water is kinda self-explanatory.

Actually, I didn't know any of that. My DH did. I'm only a little old; he's the really old one.

Hope this helps.

Both sides of it are perfect album sides.

Oops ... you probably don't know what listening to "albums" is either, or what exactly constitutes an "album side."

Ten albums? I have more vinyl 45's than that!

(And tons of CD's and digitial downloads and cassettes and vinyl albums and about 3 eight tracks!)

I even have a couple of 78's that were handed down in the family. (If Wikipedia is to be trusted, these were from the 1940's and earlier.)

Wow. I'm really suprised that you just now found out that the Beatles originally did this song. : I'm 21 and I knew that. Then again my parents did listen to that. I even have every beatles album (yes, actual albums - not cd's ).
