Ok.... here it is... we mainly are using fitteds and prefolds now. The only trouble is - dd can not move her legs or at her waist. She is pretty imobile. Which has me concerned. she has really chubby legs. I feel she is uncomfortable. Is there a different fold- cover etc I could use? We are doing the twist prefold fold.
Thanks for any info!
Honestly, I have never really used prefolds (they don't fit around my chubby dd ) but they have always seemed really bulky to me. Have you tried pockets at all? My dd can move around the easiest in them for sure.

may I suggest Swaddlebees

Otherwise, trimming down your prefolds is the economical way and since it would then be a lower rise there wouldn't be as much bulk if you pin or even less if you fold in thirds in a wrap.

I fold my prefolds ( for a boy) in thirds or 4ths and lay into a cover. If he poop's I need a new cover but I get a trimmer fit. I love Fleece covers for the flex and the softness in all areas!

I fold my dipes in 4ths as well. I also fold them so that the thickest part of the prefold is the center of the fold, if that makes any sense. I get a pretty trim fit that way. I also like to use the bikini twist when I need a really, really trim fit under some of my covers. Have you tried some of the other folds out there?

I second the Swaddlebees. I like their fitteds with a pull on wool cover or just one of their pockets (no cover needed). I had a lot of trouble with bulky diapers and DS1 so with DS2 I made sure everything we use is super trim and the Swaddlebees are really nice.
