My son has had runny nose and cough for over a month. Our nurse practitioner says he does not have an infection, and he certainly does not act sick. But he could not take much of a nap yesterday b/c of the coughing. And last night was rough. We tried having DH hold him upright in bed, but that only helped a small amount. DS still nurses, but I am 22 weeks pregnant and there's no milk at the moment.

I gave Hylands cold plus vitamin C. I am considering slippery elm. What do you all think? TIA

Are you running a vaporizer where he sleeps? That helps a lot.
Chicken bone broth (and lots of fluids in general to thin the secretions)
take out dairy (big mucous producer)

Uh-oh. He loves yogurt and eggs. But he likes other foods, too, so no big deal to change that around.

Thanks for responding

BTW, do you think I should do the saline spray in his nose or skip it?

I would definitely use saline spray (simply saline) in his nose to clear the allergens out of his nose. If you tilt his head you can try to spray it so that it goes through all of his sinuses and out the other nostril. Also, I would give baths daily now to get all of the pollen off of him before he goes to bed. We, unfortunately, keep the house closed up during the Spring and have air purifiers running.
