ITA with the previous posters that your friend's comment was rude and you should use whatever works for you. Fuzzibunz are great diapers and have great resale value.
To avoid dealing with washing/build-up problems, I would recommend washing with Allen's Naturally (recommended my the makers of fuzzibunz) and getting inserts that aren't too thick. I actually prefer quad-folded Babykicks Duz-it-alls rather than joeybunz because they wash more thoroughly, dry quicker, and you can fold them to fit any size FB, thus avoiding having to buy multiple different sizes of inserts as your child grows bigger.
Happy CDing!
