Is there an easy way to find and compare the package deals offered by various companies that would actually be available in my area? I've seen so many ads, mailers, etc. that you would think this would be easy, but it's so confusing! More than half the time, something isn't offered in our area (which I only find out by calling) and it's hard to know what the REAL cost will be after taxes, fees, and all that other junk. For example, our land line is supposed to be $39.99 a month, but even with no extra calls or unusual expenses, it's still more than $48 a month because of the taxes and fees. That makes it very hard to know, then, what a package that is being advertised for say, $100 a month is really going to cost me when the taxes and fees for cable, phone, and internet are all added in.

So, can anyone tell me which companies offer these kinds of package deals, if there is a website that compares them, and what their experience has been with the real cost of these things? Thanks!

ETA: One thing that has also made this tricky is that we would love, love, love to keep our email address with Earthlink because it's our user id on soooooo many sites. We've had it for almost 10 years and I can't imagine what a nightmare it would be to change everything. Any experience with this? (Of course Earthlink doesn't offer phone service in our area -- we already looked into that, LOL!)

Ugh I am totally with you on this!!! They make it so difficult. And add to that the fact that they usually bundle things so it only costs like $2 more to have this or that. DH and I talk about this every few months because our cable/internet alone is $113 a month, and then add phone and cell phone and its ridiculous. I want one package for everything, and for a good price! I am sure they have to disclose the fees beforehand so you might just have to make an afternoon of it and make a lot of phone calls.

There's a website I used to find the best long distance service a few years ago. It's called http://lowermybills.com. I don't know if it lists "bundles", but it does list comparison prices for the services that may be available in your area.
