I have suffered from heavy periods since the last child was born. I can't leave the house for 2 to 3 days out of the cycle. He's over 2 yrs old now. My old timer GYN thought Novasure was a good thing for me, but he did not do the procedure anymore.

So yesterday I went to meet w a GYN who does do procedures. She was trying to sell me on the IUD.
Stating in 1 yr I'd have lighter periods. Almost everyone I know who had an IUD put it, had it out within in weeks due to negative reactions. I'd rather not have something floating in my uterus... the what ifs are too many...

Here is her fuzzy freakin logic -- I have hypothyroidism which can cause heavy bleeding and that needs to be optimized first. UM, I have been seen and taken care of in that area. It's well documented. I've been on meds for 2 years and the periods are worse not better.

SO, since my thyroid is obvious the cause she wants to sell me hormone birth control to control my heavy periods. DIZZY.... Plus she wants me to see a different endo, like the one I see isn't good enough???

After being suicidal on bcp, um NO. I have enough acne and thick chin hairs thanks, but no thanks. Hormone pills make me truly nuts.

Then she tells me the Novasure procedure only works well for 5 years. So, I could end up with the heavy bleeding returning before I reach menopause. Really? My old timer GYN said it would be great for a young woman...

Well at this point, I'm just to the point of wanting to crawl in a cave and become a hermit. I hate having to go to new doctors and explain away the same things over and over and over again.

Then she wanted to do an invasive fill the uterus w saline ultrasound... Well, I called to schedule. You can only have it done day 6 to 11 and you can not be bleeding. I told this gyn I bleed 8 to 14 days. Plus this place only does them at 9am. I can not get the kids on the bus or to school and then to the place to have it done. It's just rediculous.

Did I say I hate doctors...

Find another doc that does it and just go for it. That's aburd! So what? in 5 years you have it done again? Big deal! It's a teeny tiny procedure that will completely change your life. No hormones! I had it last year and I barely bleed. Like 3 pads a day on the heaviest of days and those are light and just becaues I change when I go to bed and wake up. Last month I used my diva and there was almost nothing in there. My doc here in Indy barely batted an eye lash when I asked for the procedure and said "let's schedule" he's all for woman power. He does LVR too so his motto is dry up and tighten up!!!

I had the Novasure thing done last Friday at the same time as being sterilised. Not sure how its worked, hurt like hell when I woke up (but I am taking drugs that effect other pain killers). I would just go for it. They tried to get me to do the whole IUD thing as well and I said no way.
