Hi Girls,

Has anyone had any experiences trying to conceive after an IUD?

I am having my paraguard removed this month 3 days before ovulation, so I'm wondering if this month is shot or if we should try anyway. Also, I'm wondering how many months it has taken others to concieve after having an IUD in.. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello, Natalee.

My youngest, Noah, is a result of getting my Paraguard removed. It was removed on January 2, 2001 and my was January 25, 2001. Not sure how many DPO I was - enough for the First Response test to come out dark so at least 4 weeks. My OB/GYN even thought I was measuring big for dates at first, and contemplated that maybe I got pregnant before my IUD was taken out, but later u/s dating confirmed conception at the first week or so of January.

I've heard it can go either way. You could get pregnant right away or it could take a while. My friend had a IUD for about a year and she has been trying about 6 months now. Here cycles range from almost 40 days to 22 so pinpointing O day is hard. She had a chemical last month. She is 30 years old and had no problems conceiving her first 2 and 1/2 years ago.
