my dd is 9 mo. she has a fever of 101.9, her eyes are watering, and she is very lethargic. i called her ped. and the nurse reccomended i give her childrens tylenol, but from what i have read about tylenol it seems more harmful than helpful. what should i do? what would you do? should i be concerned? TIA...

There are a couple threads in Vaccinations that talk about some weird (bad) effects that tylenol can have on the immune system. Seems weird that it would have negative effects on the immune system given that it's mostly given to sick people. But while I can't say I completely understand what it does (I would need to read the thread while I wasn't brain-dead from new-baby tiredness), for now I'm switching to Advil, though again, like the most recent poster said, for use sparingly (and for me, not for fever reduction, just for pain relief).

Why would you want to bring down a fever that low?

To the OP, I'm sorry your little one is feeling under the weather. I agree with PPs about keeping her well hydrated.
