Confession time!!!

I haven't taken my prenatal vitamins in 2 weeks because I've been so queasy, I can't bear the thought of it. :

Also, I'm going to eat soft cheese tonight- goat cheese, in fact-- even though the packet from my CNM says not to.

And I'm not exercising. Not one little bit. I'm 11 weeks along and I've gained 10 lbs.

Anyone else have confessions?

I haven't taken the extra folic acid I should be in about two weeks.

I haven't been eating very well for three weeks because I am so super sick. Though I did get a yummy avacado down yesterday!

I haven't exercised in weeks due to the nausea and the foot problem! Though I haven't gained weight, when I am not so sick, I can see a problem coming down the pike.

BUT you know why they say no soft cheeses, right? Listeria can be in good soft cheeses and it will cause a raging infection and end the pregnancy. My that sounds blunt. Ugh.. sorry. I hate to say anything with all the sensitive feelings around lately. But it's not something I would mess with, only because it can and does happen in today's world. It sounds like a third world problem but it happens in the US all the time.

But if you know what you're doing and you're comfy with it, then don't listen to my blathering and enjoy your goat cheese! I am dying for some deli turkey, but I think I am not allowed

I'm wishing for deli turkey, too! There is a commercial for this turkey club sandwich and every time I see it I get so hungry! I ate lots of deli meat in my first pregnancy-- my dr. never told me not to. Blue cheese, too. Thank God everything was fine. But this time, I have a much better Dr. and he said "no" to all of them.

I think if the soft cheese is pasteurized, then it's okay.

I haven't been great about my prenatals due to nausea, either. And I have been living on Potatoes and Gatorade. I haven't gained anything but I hope I feel bettter soon so I can start eating better!!

Umm i just got my good prenatals tuesday...which my midwife scolded me for. : I've exercised once.

I've read that if it's pasteurized it's okay, but then the info the CNM gave me said none at all. I feel like I'm informed, so I'm going to go ahead and eat the pasteurized cheese.

I ate deli meat with my first preg and am doing it again with this one. Some info says if you heat it to smoking it is fine- I'm just eating mine cold.

Also, speaking of confessions, I found this site:
http://truemomconfessions.com/

Whew!!! Some are really sad.

: I've been eating lunch meat. The stuff from my MW didn't tell me not to, and while I avoided it last time, it's some of the only protein I can get down this time. I keep meaning to ask the MWs about it and forgetting. Gotta look into it some more...

Hey, I live right next to France: I can't avoid soft cheeses! :
Seriously though, the doctors I talked to here and in Denmark said there were no problems with soft cheese. Maybe it is different in the US?

Hmmm.....I have eaten feta and goat cheese, although I cut back from my 5x a week soft cheese habit to about once every two weeks. I salt EVERYTHING. I have never wanted sodium so bad in my life.

I spoke to my BIL during my last pg (he's an MD) and he basically said that there's a greater chance of the listeria being in something like packaged Oscar Meyer cold cuts than in something your local deli worker slices up while you're standing there.

FWIW

I want sushi. I take no prenatals right now and my irons about once a week. The only thing I take is the probiotic to avoid a yeast infection. I'm not exercising and I've gained a few pounds...somewhere between three and five. I have never gained in the first trimester before.

What's wrong with deli meat? I didn't know it was a problem.

Today, I've eaten 2 high fibre muffins, a banana, and about 6 pieces of bread with peanut butter. How lame is that??!! When I feel crappy, i crave all things light coloured or white - bread, pasta, cheese...
1 fruit, no veg, little protein. Well, it's just one day, right?

Deli meat is iffy because it can contain that bacteria people mentioned above. But my MW said I can eat it the first couple of days it has been opened. And that I can eat Subway, Blimpies, etc becacuse they go through it so fast it doesn't have time to sit and get the bacteria.

That being said, I ate it all through my first pregnancy because it was one of the few proteins I could eat and I ate it through to the end of the package. :

I've eaten it several times so far this pregnancy. I don't exercise (other than running after DD!) but I don't exercise ever. Haven't gained any weight yet because there's not much I can eat. I rarely take my prenatal and only take my fish oil when my DH physically hands it to me.

You CAN eat soft cheeses!!!! If they are pasteurized and they have to by law in the US if younger than (I think) 90 days!!!!! It is just wrong to say no to soft cheeses. In Europe soft cheeses don't have to be pasteurized, but the import into the US is not allowed. So, go ahead, eat them, check the label if it makes you feel better, it will say pasteurized. That is all I am going to say,

i have not exersized am not eating well, but worse- i don't feel like i am feeding my dd very well either. i just can't stay in the kitchen for very long. she is having things like a plain whole wheat bagle for a snack. "cold" is what she replied to that "treat" today. last night, my dh worked late so i gave her mac and cheese for dinner. i guess that isn't so bad, but it just seems like lunch to me and i didn't offer any veggies or anything else to go with it.
also, i have let her watch more tv. not soo much, but more than i am typically comfortable with.
there you go. don't tell anyone else- ok? lol.
I also forget to drink enough water, have forgotten my prenatals a few times, and had some bleu cheese on a salad, but I'm done worrying about that one...

I'm going to Boston in a couple weeks with friends and I'm pretty sure we're going to tour the Sam Adams Brewery...I'm thinking about just snagging one sip off of one of them...or not. I haven't really had much craving for alcohol while pregnant, which is obviously a good thing.

Oh and I'm not exercising. But who has the energy?? I'm hoping in the 2nd trimester I'll be able to do some prenatal yoga, but I had a friend tell me that the work we're doing (growing our babies!) is just as exhausting as hiking a mountain. Resting is expected.

No deli meat? Oops! Confession number one...

Exercise...Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

Pretty good with the prenatals but I have used pregnancy as an excuse to OCASSIONALLY eat things I might not allow myself...like tortilla chips with cheese sauce last night (gasp) but for the most part I'm pretty good.
