Ok, I recently got a great deal on seven extremely cute AIOs on ebay (not BIN, just bidding). They are really adorable, and fit dd very well. HOWEVER, I have had major thigh wicking on two of them, and strongly suspect the others will wick as well. DD is not a heavy wetter, and I always put a fleece doubler in them. I fear that she sold them for this reason, though her description says she is selling off all her dipes as she is done cd'ing; she did have a huge amount of all sorts of other diapers for auction, so I should probably believe her. SHould I email her and question her about it as tactfully as possible, or chalk it up to a bad deal and try waterproofing spray?

I would ask her about it. Maybe even just inquire to see if she ever had the problem, etc.

Sorry about the bum deal.

I agree, I'd email her and ask if she had that problem with them ever. Sorry they're not working out for you.

What good would it do you to know the info? She can easily say no. She's probably not going to take them back, and IMO, it's not worth the fight. I'd do the waterproofing route.

What AIOs are they? You could try contacting the maker of the AIO- they sometimes will help you try and fix them- if not then they will replace them. I know that little lambs for one does this.

Anyway- can't hurt to try!

I don't know if it matters but a lot of times I have no problem with a diaper that others will have wicking on, so it is very possible that her child never had any wicking problems at all with them, and it is just the fit or whatever with your DD that is the reason your having wicking?

I seriously don't think she will take the AIO's back and honestly don't think it is her responsiblity to take them back either, some diapers wick on some kids and not on others, it could be the way your DD pees (like holds it and goes all at once) and hers is a squirter. Look into some spray, give them a good stripping to make sure it isn't repeling fleece or something, and if they still wick then put back up on e-bay for someone else to try out. If your looking for info to help you sell them (like she didn't have wicking) then sure ask her, but I wouldn't come at it like your looking for a refund or anything, that would probably put her on the defensive. I hope you figure it out and can make them work for you.

And FWIW I have much more wicking in ALL AIO's than I do with a fitted/prefold and a cover. They don't hold as much and leak more, they are more convienent but not if they are leaking right? ~

Thanks for all the replies! I didn't truly expect her to take them back, just wanted to see if she had experieced the same issues with them. They are velour lined, not fleece; they are not repelling, I can tell they are soaking up the pee. I usually do use either a fitted or a prefold and a pullon pant of some kind, which never leak, not even poop . In fact, the only poop onto clothing problems I have experienced have been with aio's. These are very cute, tho, and fit well, so I will certainly try to waterproof them. They are from "Designer Wraps", which I tried to find on the net with no success; the dipes look quite worn, so probably the WAHM is no longer in business. ANyone heard of her?

Hey, I have some Designer Wraps too! Mine are super cute tie dye/batik print. They are so adorable, but they do wick. A lot. I waterproofed them, but I need to do it again as they are leaking near the velcro again. Too bad its going to take some work to keep them in functioning condition, 'cuz they sure are adorable!

i just looked at a few of her auctions and they all seem to be turned and topstitched pul aio's with cotton fabrics inners. imo that will wick at the leg openings almost everytime. i've tried making those many times for my own kids and i just can't get them to not wick. it might help to use a waterproofing spray or you might just have to just use them during the day.

I think it depends on your baby if an AIO will work or not. For examply, Luke's Drawers Candy Wrappers wicked horribly for both my boys, but some ppl can use them at night w/ no problems at all. I think it just depends on the shape of your baby, how much they pee, etc.

Sorry they didn't work out for you.
