I just want to make life simple around here!! So here are my questions. My son is a very heavy wetter so would prefolds even be an option during the day? Also would he need a toddler or premium size? My DS is about 26#

The thought of having a simple stash of prefolds and wool just sounds so tempting for the summer. I love the look of painted/embellished ones!

I am not sure what size.....

I use premiums with Angelo and he is over 20lbs. and kinda chubby!

I love prefolds and wool.

You could always use inserts if you need more absorbtion.

Toddler prefolds are really really big. My DD is 22 pounds, and very tall, and the premiums are still really big. So I would definitely say premiums.

I
our pf's. they can't be beat in absorbancy imho. we use inserts for my heavy wetter. personally I would get toddler ones though. my ds is the same weight as yours and the premiums "just" fit. maybe he is just thick around the middle though :LOL (though I'm now in the middle of converting them into prefitteds so the extra tab will make them a bit bigger)

Ummm..if you do this, who am I going to sell my fitteds, too?! :LOL

No,really...pf's rock! IPF's are way softer than CPF's IMO but I dont' have any right now.
I'm waiting for Diaperware to get her toddler IPF's dyed up in her yummy colors. I trimmed all of my pf's like this except w/ a 15" rise and the fit is amazing! Super trim and never a poo blowout yet. I use pins, too, which give a really snug fit! Oh..and I use nothing but knitted wool soakers and shorts and it works great! The toddlers CPF's are *huge*, but toddler IPF's are the same length as a premium CPF, just a little wider! Great for those bigger tummy's! I trimmed them too and use them at night, but wow..not for during the day! :LOL Regular CPF's are nice and trim too. I've got about a dozen of them, too and use them during the day. Talk about trim...

So...are you going to join me in my 2 week trial period of nothing but pf's?!

ETA: If you like pretty dyed ones..check out www.tyedyedreams.com and snag yourself a custom slot! Shelly is awesome to work with and her dyed pf's are beautiful and stay that way! Look at these! Gorgeous..no?! They are reg. pf's!

heh heh, check it out, all my talking up PFs has turned them into the latst must-have!
:

If I were you, for a heavy wetter, I would go with either IPFs (Toddler definitely) or Toddler CPFs. The indians are smaller but more absorbent, and the Toddler CPFs are pretty big but I can fold them in such a way that I have double the absorbency of the Premiums in his wet zone, and that is the only thing that lets me use them under wool without major compression wicking. If I used Premium CPFs I'd have to change my wool every change.

Good luck!

For my 26 pound 20 monther we just had to switch to toddlers. They look big when you first get them, but then they shrink up in the wash. Premiums are no longer snappiable for us, so I could only use them trifolded in a wrap.

You can also trim them or get them trimmed if you think they are too long. Grow Me a Rainbow does this. Go over to the diaper sewing forum to get instructions how to do this yourself if you have a sewing machine. I haven't bothered with trimming.

Good luck with your decision making!

p.s. we sometimes use doublers--kissaluvs super soaker or jeoy bunz.

Count me in on the pfs rage! I don't have enough (yet) to do it exclusively, but I've noticed that as I change Ian, I've been grabbing, in this order: 1) sherpa prefolds (yummy yummy, another dozen on order); 2) dyed prefolds; 3) prefitteds; 4) flats; 5) fitteds. And here I was convinced I was going to do all fitteds, nothing but fitteds, 'til Ian PL'd.

BTW, Jesse - if you're going to be selling off any Fussybutts or Luxe, I'm there. :LOL

Who carries these? TIA
