I need some advice from someone who has gone through something similar. Like many babes, ds hopped on the constipation train when we started solids, so I just eliminated them entirely. Lately, at his noisy requests, I have reintroduced a few mellow items that he feeds to himself (cucumbers, yams, sweet potatoes). Or at least, I tried, but he just gets all bunged up, so I back off and on and off and on. Interestingly, even when he is just ebf, he is still only pooping once every 8 days or so. I wouldn't worry if it weren't for his reaction to pooping: he screams and turns red in the face. His poops look like adult poops.

I should mention that he nurses at least 15 times (full sessions) in 24 hours, but lately, it is closer to 20. I also offer him water throughout the day. What the heck is going on? TIA, mommas.

My DS is the same way, although he just turned one. He poops now every 3-4 days and they look like adult poop, fully formed. I am not sure if it is constipation or just that it's just changing. I know that putting him on the potty to poop made him less squirmy and upset about it. We don't do EC full time, but he now poops pretty exclusively in the potty. Maybe you can try that?

Do you and/or he eat dairy? I ate very little dairy and my DS was horribly constipated--poo'ing caused him terrible pain for months. : I finally completely stopped dairy and it was like night and day. He started going every day, for one thing! When he slows down now I give him prune juice right away and it softens everything up pretty quickly.
