I've been thinking about Cding but I'm still overwhelmed!!! Questions:

Other than creating massive waste what is wrong with sposies??? (links are fine) I've never had a big rash problem with my two girls. Chemicals?

I keep reading about mamas who buy something and it doesn't work for them. if you have to keep buying do you really save $?

Can you do this and not become addicted? Anyone??

How often are you changing diapers?

I have a 3 1/2 yo who wears sposies at night only. A toddler in sposies all day long. And I'm due in Sept. Where should I start?? I was thinking maybe 2-3 diapes for the toddler for part of hte day to see how I liked them. yes, no?

Budget is a huge factor for me, especially right now.

Thank you! for your expert advice. I really appreciate it.

You CAN do this and not become addicted or not carried away.
You don't have to get fancy stuff. A poster here bought most of her diapers 2nd hand for $0.49-$0.69. (yippy)

I'm not sure why some diapers don't work for some people. I think in part due to the child's size and in part due to expectations. I have a very average baby, and I have not had a problem with any diapers myself.

Maybe you could try some fuzzi bunz for your toddler, and if you like them, buy a few for you 3yo; they are pretty similar to a sposie, then work from there. I'm sure you could find some used ones somewhere...

Is a fuzzi bunz an AIO or something else? If its AIO I don't need anything else, right? If it isn't I have to have a PF or stuffin' of some nature?

You can definatley do this on a budget and not get carried away...we are 1 imcome family and have 3 kiddos...and before i started my own business I only had about 10 covers and a few AIO's with prefolds and Super Sokers for liners...i wash diapes once a day and it works great..best of luck to you..

I'd suggest maybe trying a few onesize diapers, you might find a single diaper that fits all of your kids.

As for trying this and that...while it is good to sample a few things before buying tons of any one system I think that you don't really have to try every diaper on the market (figuratively) before finding someting that will work. Cding is kind of a hobby for me and I have several fav's that fit perfectly but I've also got lots of other diapers that I would have been perfectly happy with had they been the only diapers I'd ever tried. It's sort of an ignorance would have been bliss kinda thing, lol.

The key to sampling without spending tons of money is to do a bit of research and narrow your sample diapers down to a few favorites. Then buy them (or at least one sample diaper) used from the TP or ebay or look for a vender that sells a variety of items like www.naturalbabies.com, then you don't have to pay tons on shipping.

Who knows you might get lucky and fall in love with the first one you try.

As for addiction...well...you just have to be strong.

Chemicals?
I do worry about the exposure of Chemicals on my DD if palced on her day after day, however I do use the ocassional DD and feel no guilt in doing so. To me the biggest reasons are the waste, the Chemicals, and the overall cost.

I keep reading about mamas who buy something and it doesn't work for them. if you have to keep buying do you really save $?
Honestly even though I have learned what my "favorites are by doing some hit and mis expermentation, however there are actually very few diapers or covers I hate. Lets see I hated Kushies AIOs as a newborn (love them now) hate Alexis covers (Way too big in the legs) and hated the dappi diapers someone gave me, but gosh those are the only things I will never use. I've even had CD success with pinned Gerber flats and Vinyl covers. I've just found ones I like better, dos that make sense?

Can you do this and not become addicted? Anyone??
YES! I buy a set of diapers when my DD needs them, I bought a set when my DD was 2 months and I started CD (will do from birth for the next) sized up when she out grew them about 11 months and am fixing to get my final set. I don't buy fancy just what I need and what works. Lets see in the end I will have spent about $300 in cloth and the outgrown ones go into a box for the next baby.

How often are you changing diapers? I change DD just as often as I change cloth during the days its anywhere between 6-10 times (on average) my DD is 19 months so shes not wetting as often, Once she stopped pooping at night I stopped changing her at night.

I was thinking maybe 2-3 diapes for the toddler for part of the day to see how I liked them. yes, no?
In order to really see I'd try a days worth or at least 8-10 diapers. Many sites give sample packages, or trials, Id look into AIOs styles or pocket diapers if your used to DD, but would venture into fitted or even prefolds for the newbaby.

Budget is a huge factor for me, especially right now. May we ask the budget amount? One can CD for just about any amount, but your choices will be limited depending on some factors, we might be able to give a better sugestion if we had a number to work with.
