We are in the market for a new car seat, I bought two of the Graco ComfortSport that was on sale at Target this last week, and after reading reviews on MDC I'm returning them.
I think I'm going to get a Cosco Serena for our second seat (rarely used), but I'm at a loss for which to get for our primary seat. I cannot spend more than $100! The straps on the Comfortsport have been aweful to get/keep even when adjusting, so that is a biggie for me. Straps must be easy to adjust and keep even, but besides that I just want a SAFE, easy to use seat for under $100! Any suggestions or advice would be so so so so appreciated.
Personally, I'd combine the amount and get one seat that is fairly easy to install and just move it. Gives you A LOT more options. Really, the best ones under $100 are the scenera and the avenue.

We have a scenera and LOVE it. If more than one would fit in our car we would get more. I've never had it rf until today and it fits very nice and snug in both positions. The straps are nice and easy for sure and stay even.
That said, I don't think it was under $100 when we got it.

I agree too, a scenera is around $50 so if you just get one seat that is easier to move then you could get something for about $150.
Normally I recommend the True Fit and it's fairly easy to install but I find it heavy and not something I would want to move all the time. If a 2nd seat is something you use rarely then you might be able to get away with a True Fit. I just moved mine this weekend and I had it out and back in with in about 10 min. Plus the regular version of the True Fit can be found for right around $146 right now.
Another option would be the Graco My Ride, I found it extremely easy to install. I had it installed in minutes and it's also right around $150. If you happen to have an older seat that you won't be using anymore you can trade it in at Babies R Us for 20% off a new seat which would put the MyRide at $120.
I would get a Safety 1st Avenue or Safety 1st Uptown
. If you can swing a bit more I would look at the Evenflo Triumph Advance and Graco My Ride also. Be sure to have your install checked by a child passenger safety technician! Remember that all seats pass the same tests, the important thing is finding one that fits your child, your budget, and your vehicle.
The Safety First Avenue is 80 dollars, and is basically an upgraded version of the Scenera, with higher top slots, a taller shell, more comfort padding and EPS foam.
I looked at the Radian and True fit and several others way more than I originally wanted to spend, and I understand why they are so recommended now. I didn't realize the weight/height limits were SO much higher on those seats. Are those the only seats to keep dc in a 5pt harness forward facing 40+? Do they make "boosters" with five point harness?
I had no idea that finding our next carseat would be so much work and research!
I did find that the TrueFit cappucino is $150 on Amazon, I think I could swing that, and it has a higher weight/height limit most of the other seats in that price.
The second seat in only for Grandma & Grandpa who watch dd 3 days a week, they would only use it a couple times a month. Still considering a Scenera for them.....
Yes, the nautilus and the frontier are boosters with 5 point harnesses (meaning harnessed seats that convert to good boosters), but your LO should still be rearfacing for a long time to come. If you want to do it cheaply (extended harnessing) you could always do a scenera now and plan to buy a nautilus in a couple of years when it is outgorwn. But usually a true fit will get you to booster age, at which point you can buy a $50 turbobooster and be seat.
Thanks DahilaRW, I definately want to keep dd rear facing as long as possible, then harnessed ff as long as possible. Thanks for your advice, I think I decided on the True Fit, hoping like you said it will get me thru to the booster stage. This being my first child it's so hard for me to guage when she'll be what weight/height!
Thanks again
