Cookbook for Kids - recommendation needed

620 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Kari_mom
My ds is 3 years old and LOVES baking and cooking. I have a lot of recipe books but none that are really kid-friendly. You know...one with lots of bright pictures with each recipe so we can actually see what we are making and fairly simple recipes. We are also vegetarian and like to eat pretty healthy. Does anyone have or know of a book that is worthy of recommending?

Mollie Katzen has at least one children's cookbook out - I think it's called Pretend Soup and there may be others. I think there is also one called something like Vegetarian Dragon cookbook.
Pretend Soup and Honest Pretzels. Both by Mollie Katzen, LOVE them both!

Thank you! I am going to order Pretend Soup by Mollie Katzen. It looks perfect and got rave reviews on Amazon. I have one of her other cookbooks and enjoy it so I am looking forward to giving this new one to ds for Christmas. If I can wait that long
. I love the fact that it's vegetarian so there won't be whole sections of a cookbook that we can't use.

We've been on a Smash & Mash cookbook kick lately (or Mash & Smash) I purchased it from the LLL catalog. Its super SUPER 3-4 year old freindly, all healthy and they can make all the recipes ALMOST by themselves!
We LOVE Pretend Soup and Honest Pretzels. She has a new one out, Salad People. I bought two copies as Christmas gifts on the strength of her previous books, I haven't even looked at it yet.

Hilarious update, my 7 yo wants dinner and pulled out his Pretend Soup cookbook to start cooking for us.
