cooked bean ??

Can I can my own beans? How about freeze cooked beans? Have you done it? What did you do? How did it work out?

Beans freeze just fine. I've done it many times. I think canning them would be a lot more work, so if you have the freezer space, I'd do that.

You can use freezer bags, or small containers (like Gladware, or what-have-you). Cook them as usual, pop into the freezer. Refried beans freeze well, too. And they thaw pretty quickly -- if you're using them in a soup or stew, you can just add them directly from the freezer.

Thanks!! So just cook as usual and then toss them in? How long are they good for in the freezer? I think I will start some in the crock pot right now!!
Yup, just cook as usual. You might want to let them cool a bit before freezing (standard freezing procedure!). I don't know how long they'd keep -- I always use mine pretty quick -- but my guess would be a couple of months? or thereabouts.
