ok-totally changed this post...read every post I could on baby dolls. Head is spinning...

I know I want something with a hard head. DD has soft dolls (haba et al) and uses them for pretend play but I want to give her a real life baby doll for the upcoming birth of DD#2.

I have narrowed it down to something from Corolle or one of these
http://www.dollfactorydirect.com/pro...ally%20Correct

I don't like that Corolle uses vinyl but I am convinced by the research that it is BPA/Pth free. The other dolls are made in Spain & I am wondering if that makes them safer or if Corolle uses the same standards since they are also sold in Europe?

I want it to be a baby, but it would be a bonus if it could have some rooted hair. My siblings & I have newborns with full heads of hair that don't go away

ALSO-should we give it to her for Christmas or wait until the baby is born in early Feb?

Ds has a doll factory direct doll, and those are also the dolls at the local children's museum. I really like it. The ones at the museum get played with a lot and seem to hold up very well.

Ds (8/07) is about the same age as your dd and I bought him the 13 1/2 inch doll. Its a good size for him. I was tempted by the larger dolls as they can wear 0-3 month clothes, but the smaller doll is easier for him to play with, that being said, I haven't found any clothes for it yet, I knitted the doll a sweater, so typically the doll wears a sweater and a diaper.

Thx for the reply!

What is the actual brand of the Doll Factory Dolls? I have come across a few different links referencing sites with them but no actual brand name. I wanted to make sure they were non toxic/safe plastic if possible. Although it seems since they are made in europe, they should be right? And if the museum is using them...?????

The larger dolls fitting into 0-3 mos IS SO TEMPTING. Wow. I don't sew & it would be so much easier & cheaper to be able to put clothes we already have on the doll. Hmmmmmmm...

How is it you found out about the 0-3 mos fitting some of the dolls? I saw something under the large soft body dolls about 1 of those fitting in 6-9 mos but can't find much else. I'll keep clicking into each doll...
