I just found out at my 20 wk ultrasound that I have a corpus luteum (sp) cyst on my left ovary. Can anyone tell me what this is? The tech said it might go away, but wht if it doesn't? Should I be worried?

My understanding is that such a cyst is left over from when you ovulate and once you become pregnant, it continues to supply you with progesterone until the placenta can take over. Then it usually disintigrates. I don't think it's a big deal. BUt I don't know for sure 100%.

Gossamer is right. Corpus luteum is normal after ovulation, and if you get pregnant, it will stick around and supply progesterone until the placenta takes over. If it isn't causing you pain, I'd not worry about it. They eventually go away on their own.

You should be talking to your doctor or midwife instead of u/s tech anyway...
