I live in LA and it has been SO hot here for a couple of days now. I'm dying to get into the air conditioning and a movie seems like the perfect retreat. However, I've heard that the movie theaters play the movies so loud that it can damage a babes ears/hearing. Has anyone heard this? Any thoughts?

Movies are pretty loud. I think it would depend on whether you were seeing something like a comedy, or an action movie.

That being said, we took out baby to a couple of movies when she was tiny. There is no way she would sit through it now.

Do any of your local theaters offer showings specifically for bringing babies? The chain here has a program called "Stars and Strollers". They keep the lights brighter and turn the sound lower. Everybody has their own kid, so nobody cares if they cry.
