I miscarried at 17 weeks (d&c) when I found out our baby had stopped growing around 9 weeks, it wasn't until today that I remember that we had the salmonella tainted peanut butter here at my house and that I had eaten nearly half the jar before I found out it was bad, which was also around the time the baby died. I had wondered at the time (when we found out it was tainted) if I had salmonella as I was quite sick but I had such bad morning sickness that I figured that must be it. Now that I know I miscarried around that time I just wondered if that could have contributed or caused it. Of course there is nothing to do about except for future knowledge in a pregnancy. Anyone know if salmonella can cause complications or miscarriage?

did you get salmonella ? the reports I have read and the animal outbreaks there is a connection between salmonella infection and miscarriage-- the thing is that we are exposed to salmonella spores all the time in the air-so just exposure will probably not be a cause but infection has been sited/ shown to be related

I didn't go to the doctor when I thought I was sick (no insurance and I had morning sickness also) so I don't know if I was infected or not. It got better on its own over time so, I don't know.

Salmonella makes you pretty sick. My guess is that you would have gone to the doctor as it would have been way more severe than what you would have dismissed as morning sickness. Many people with salmonella bleed from both ends....

I have had friends with food poisoning while pregnant go on to have perfectly healthy children.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Be kind to yourself.

there is a range of illness- from severe to mild even to people who seem to be completely resistant - just like with all illnesses- if you were sick at the time- could be.. no way to know for sure now-
