<p>This is my first cycle ttc and for some reason I decided on cycle day 8 to start charting. I wasn't going to stress about it but I feel like my temps are all over the place. I was predicted to O on cycle day 17 which was the 26th of this month. My temps did go up but never over my highest temps. I know this is only my first cycle ttc but I just really wanted to catch the egg this month. Do you think that I could have possibly O'd on cd 17 and my earlier temps were just a fluke or is there something that would cause your temps to be that high before you O. Like I said I am new to all this and I am just really hoping we got the egg this month because even though this is the first cycle of trying, I have been dying to get pregnant for years!</p>
<p>Oh and just to let you know I did temp at the same time every morning. I'm just not really sure how to read my chart yet and any help would be appreciated!</p>

<p>Anyway, my first question is how are you temping?  Orally, vaginally, or other?  Those temps do look pretty erratic, and kind of low to be post-O temps.  At this point, I don't see a clear O in your chart.  I would just keep BDing until you do see a clear shift.  Oh, one more question - were your on BC prior to this cycle?  It could take a while for your body to get it's act together after BC. </p>

<p>I am temping orally, and I have never been on BC. I thought my temps looked weird too, even though I have never temped before. What would make my pre-O temps so high like they are? I also didn't think I could O this late in my cycle as I am expecting af in 9-10 days. Don't you need a longer luteal phase than this? Like I said before I am all new to this so I may not know what I'm talking about! lol <span><img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.mothering.com/images/smilies/smile.gif"></span></p>

<p>Starting to temp "mid cycle" (i know closer to the beginning for you but still...) especially if it is your first chart, can make it somewhat inaccurate. I think FF has your O date potentially correct at cd20, but I think getting used to temping and charting...getting a couple more charts under yor belt will help you determine if there is concern with a short LP or not. I wouldn't panic yet. Now that being said, you could be pg and not have the opportunity for more charts until you are post partum and using it for avoiding? Good luck!</p>

<p>kara - Looks like you did get a definite temp rise now.  Not sure what was going on with your earlier temps, though.  Just keep charting and stay consistent, and you'll start to see patterns.  No need to worry about your luteal phase yet.  Give it a few months and see what your charts show.  If you do see a LP problem, there are things you can do to lengthen it (i.e. B-Complex vitamins/B-6). </p>

<p>Thanks to both of you for your input! I am not really concerned about my luteal phase anymore because my cycles fluctuate so I am sure it will be fine. I am also glad I charted some this month because I O'd later than FF predicted before my temps and now I know more of what to look for next month, if I'm not already pregnant But I'm not getting my hopes up this month.</p>
