I just read your signature in my post. You have a baby via surrogate coming in august and you're pregnant and due in Jan 09.

This sounds like a fun story, I hope you want to share.

:

Well I posted something back the first week this DDC was posted. Haven't said much and even had to have my username changed because my MIL is stalking me : and my surrogate friend online.

After 9 years with my husband, most of which we were actively trying to get pregnant with no success, my best friend offered to be what is termed a traditional surrogate for us. Her egg, DH sperm. After 2 months to discuss, work out contract details, IUD removal, get more in depth cycle tracking she was pregnant on the first cycle we tried which happened to be over Thanksgiving weekend.

RIGHT before we did her first set of inseminations I found out that the insurance my husbands new purchased company was now holding was European. They believe in reproductive assistance coverage. Suddenly we had several treatments available that we never could have afforded otherwise. Needless to say we continued with our plans since anything I did wasn't guaranteed.

I met with my reproductive endocrinologist and after a few tests it was decided that I needed to go through some hormone therapy for a few months to prep my body along with redoing some other tests to make sure my tubes were open and such. By April everything was all ready and we ended up doing 20 days of injections with a trigger shot followed by an IUI. Ta-da! I FINALLY ended up pregnant for the first time in my life.

I work with my friend so we spend lots of time together and I get to be very involved in her pregnancy. She posts here at MDC on occasion. Our little girl will be here in 7-10 weeks. My DH is hoping for two little princesses.

Guess I get to go through "nesting" twice. I am already losing my mind trying to get everything ready now but I look at it this way... as I use stuff I know I will be using it again just 4 months later! Maybe nesting will be different the second time around involving cooking or something.

Right now I am thrilled and excited... ask me again after she gets here how I am holding up. Thankfully she will get here right about my 20th week and when she naps, I'll nap! I also plan to use a supplemental nurser so that when my milk comes in she will transfer to breast-feeding easily. I have already talked to my midwife at the birth center about stuff so I have their support too.

Have any more questions? :

Cozmama,

You have an awesome story. Thanks for sharing. This goes way beyond Irish twins I think. I am less than a year apart from my brother, but only just. I also happen to HAVE twins, so if you have any questions, just shoot me a message.

Thank you so much for sharing. Awesome story!!! I do have more questions please decline if they are too personal.

1) how does your friend feel now that you were able to get pregnant too?

2) What role do you think your friend will play in this little ones life?

She was one of my biggest supporters and was always one of the first three people who knew anything going on. We were even going to have her join me in coming for my second progression ultrasound but she was busy that day and couldn't make it. As I said we also work together sharing a salon studio so she is a big part of my life.

DH and I are Aunt and Uncle to her son and she will be Auntie as well. M will be told from the beginning HOW she got here and will have access to the fact that she is her bio mother as she gets old enough to understand it. We also live 4 blocks from each other now. A has no want of raising another child. D her son has been prepped from the beginning that my body wouldn't work right so Mommy was donating an egg that would normally go "down the toilet" to help us. Since he is almost 6, he will understand earlier that he is genetically related to M.

I should add that when she got pregnant with her son and said she was keeping this one there were quite a few of us in our circle of friends that were more than a little SHOCKED to say the least. She has never been much of a kid person and really still isn't other than with her own.
