I was folding my CPFs so the front was squared like this:

http://www.punkinbutt.com/newspaperfold.htm

But then I was having problems with the diaper slipping down and out from under the snappi. So now, I fold the diaper like the picture, put it under DD, bring the front up, completely flare out the front sides around the waist and then bring up the back flaps and snappi.

Now I have a lot less slippage, less bulk in the front, and a really great fit! Does anyone else fold like this?

I do DDs like this out of necessity actually! She is still too small for the premium size - they swallow her! But the infant are getting a tad snug around the waist if it's "squared off" in front - so I flare for a better fit!

I am confused... I hope you don't mind me asking you both a question:
I ALWAYS open the front on my son otherwise I am not able to pin or snappi. It makes a wonderful fit, but now that you guys are talking about having to open WHEN the size is getting too small, I am confused...
I have Premium UBCPFs from Granitesmith and they should fit up to 30lbs right?? My son 5 1/2 months,19lbs and has a VERY chubby tummy. Does the shape of the baby has any influence on the fit???

yes it sure does for any kind of dipe. i have a long slender boy that has been in the same size in in some diapers the same setting for almost 16 months although the rise is getting a tad too short now. if you have a round baby it will affect how long a fit will last, but babies do trim down once they become mobile so you may still be able to use those prefolds after he is moving more. , just keep flairing (I do this too, not for a better fit around the waist, but because I like the extra padding on his hips where teh snappi hooks.

I do the bikini twist and the front flares naturally with this fold. I like it better than having all of that bulk up front, that looks uncomfortable.

And, your babies shape makes a big difference in how they will fit. My older ds is 36lbs and I can still bikini twist a regular 4x6x4 cpf on him. Barely, but it does fit because he is thin.
