DS crawls asymetrically, on one knee with one foot on the ground out to the side. He crawled pretty late - didn't start army crawling until around 8mo, and then started getting up on all fours around 9mo. He *can* crawl "normally" but rarely does it, he just seems more comfortable "crab crawling." At first I thought it was just more comfortable for him to crawl this way on our hard floors, but now I think it's just his preferred crawling position. Anyway he's just turned a year old, and he's not quite walking, and I wasn't worried about his crawling until I read something on another board that it could be a sign of a neurological disorder, or he just could need a chiro alignment or something.

Anyone else with a crab-crawler? Did you do anything to "treat" it, or did you just let it be?

My daughter (13 months) does this. She craweled very well on all 4's then she changed to the crab crawl, it started when our floor was cold, then when she happened to have on a dress. It was her way of not touching the floor with anymore skin than she had to. LOL She is now walking well but still once in a while will do her funny little crawl. I didn't believe there was anything wrong, she is just doing things her way.....
