We are preparing to sidecar a crib to our current bed - since our bed is not big, this is a way of creating more room and a bedrail.

Questions:
1) To prepare the mattress, should we cover it, ventilate it, use a waterproof cover, etc.?
2) Should we tie the crib to our bed somehow?

Thanks.

We did use a waterproof mattress pad for the big bed, because we didn't want pee or spit-up to soak through to the mattress.

And to attach our crib to the bedframe, we used those plastic fastener things (zip-ties?). They're really strong.

Then we crammed the crib bumper between the wall of the crib and the crib mattress (to push the crib mattress out far enough to meet our mattress) and then put a blanket over the whole thing so it seems like one long continuous bed.

Good luck!
