So I've been drinking raw milk, and my first thought was "oh god, listeria." But I don't have any of the actual symptoms of that. This seems like a stomach bug. Just loose stools and mild abdominal cramping. Are stomach bugs ok in pregnancy? Do I need to call a doctor?

I don't know, but I'm with you. It's been an ugly day. I think your dr. will just tell you to keep your fluid intake up. I had a GI bug when I was pg /w dd. Over a week of diarrhea, and I lost about 5 lbs. Everything was fine though. Just keep drinking water.

I had constipation around this point in my pg w/dd. I don't know if I'd call this a nice change though. I'm getting really tired of the BRATY diet. It is the first trimester, and I need Mexican food!!!!!

I wouldn't automatically blame it on the raw milk unless you have reason to believe it might have been contaminated. And listeria would probably be down there on my list of usual contaminates. I would question e-coli first. If you are getting your milk from a small family farm where the cows are not fed a lot of rotten silage, you shouldn't have to worry about listeriosis. We milk our own cows, etc...

Anyway, I have it too but I always to off and on during pregnancy....not sure why.

a really long shot but if you're on menopur that won't help either. That's my first culprit when I start to have issues.
Other than that, I'm kinda in the same boat as everyone!

I know some of the prescription pre-natals also have stool softeners in them. Can't imagine that would make the situation better...

God, I have the pleasure of both worlds

I get constipated for about three days with minimal poopage, and then one day it just all comes out. So it's like...*uncomfortable*...*uncomfortable*...*uncomf ortable*...

Then....*oooooh run for the toilet*...*run for the toilet*...*run for the darn toilet*

Only three more weeks in the first trimester though - then, if it's anything like last time, we should be golden

*HUGE hugs* - I always tell myself it could be worse. XXX

I think it's just that everything kinda stops, and then you get to a level of gastrointestinal fullness where everything just shouts "GO! NOW!"

Heheheh

Well, it doesn't help that in my case, about the only thing that stops me feeling so darn nauseous is to constantly eat and eat! My stomach doesn't empty, I'm left sitting there with a bloat that makes me look five months pregnant (believe me, it really does) and I have to eat more and more and more... Then suddenly *explosion*. Oh well.

I've had that too... my body can't decide: constipation? diarrhea? So it is thoughtfully providing me with both. Plus some whopping hemorrhoids. Thanks, body!

I was just wondering if those of you having the lose bowels have altered your diets to the *suggested* pregnancy diet and have increased fruit, veggie and whole grains? This could certainly account for the issue. Sadly, I've failed miserably in that department, and I'm eating what my body seems to demand/tolerate. I should follow the craving chart though instead.

,
