Cramping?

Talk to me about cramping. I'm only about 4.5 weeks pg with a due date of feb 2, 2006. AF was due last thursday which is the day I tested and got a faint line. On maybe tuesday - friday last week I felt like AF was coming and had those types of cramps. Then on Sat - Monday I don't feel pg at all. Maybe, just maybe I have somewhat sore bbs but other than that nothing. I'm not tired, actually I seem to have more energy than normal. I'm eating normal, no food adversions, no cramping, nothing. Than today I'm having cramping that seems to be coming in waves, its almost like little mini contractions. They don't hurt or anything but they come and go with some regularity. Other than that I feel fine. My bbs are a little sore today. This is my 3rd child. My other two I probably didn't even find out I was pg until after 5 weeks so I don't know if this happened before. Any advice?

It seems that I was a little crampy around the same time that you are talking about too. I just made sure I got enough rest (I know, funny joke seeing as you also have 2 kids already...) and didn't pick up anything unusually heavy. I think it's perfectly normal!!!!
This is my third pregnancy and the first time this particular thing has happened. I've had what I can only describe as waves of cramps this time around. Usually in the evening, about once every 7-10 days, I get crampy. Two nights it hurt so much that I was sure I was miscarrying. And then everything went back to normal. Then I read that the uterus contracts regularly throughout pregnancy, even this early. I think it's normal, too.
Yeah, I went through that a week or so ago too. When I first found out, I was about as far along as you, and I didn't feel pg at all. (To be honest, I still don't most of the time.) But I had a pretty busy weekend last weekend, and I got all crampy, and I was sure I was miscarrying. But I never even so much as spotted, and things are all right now. I was told it's your uterus stretching, and it's normal. It happened more if I was particularly tired. So, I rested when I was tired, didn't strain myself too much, and watched for spotting. None came, and I have sporadic tiny cramps now, but nothing that worries me.
I kept a journal when I was pregnant with ds, and that is something I wote about in the early weeks. Freaked me out too.
This time I haven't had any, but I'm only 5 1/2 weeks, so there's still time.

Pregnancy symptoms and AF symptoms are pretty much the same. Really unfair if you ask me.

Hey, we can be "cycle sisters" :LOL - According to the LMP method I am due the same day as you. (I am planning on delivering early again since my DS was three weeks early, so I'm expecting this one in late January...)

My period was due 5/26, but the week before that I had some spotting (very light colored fluid). Then last week I felt some cramping, but AF never came and I tested on Friday and got a faint line. I tested again on Sunday and got another faint line, but a little darker. These things are all very different from my first pregnancy- I had no spotting, no cramping, and a very bright positive line.

Anyway, I have been cramping off and on and I'm exactly 5 weeks today, so
??? I'm hoping it's normal too!

I was sure AF was coming with both of my pregnancies. Like a PP said, early pg symptoms and AF symptoms are too similar - it isn't fair! As far as feeling good now, I'd say enjoy it while it lasts. It is my experience that the first few weeks are pretty easy and the exhaustion/nausea/etc doesn't kick in until 6 weeks or so. I hope you feel better longer... but you never know.

Congratulations!

hi there,
when i was pregnant with my son, i totally had cramping, it felt very much the same as when i had my period, but not quite so intense, less frequent but drawn out for a week or two. i was so freaked out (every book i read said it was a bad sign) that i went to two different clinics and finally the emergency room and NOBODY answered my questions they all were rude and not at all reassuring (in retrospect it's not surprising since none of them were specialized or experienced with pregnancy). when i finally saw my family doc she reassured me that it is quite normal, especially in the first few weeks.
this pregnancy i am also having some cramps, but so far not as much as when i was pregnant with noah. if they become quite intense and/or you start spotting then maybe talk to your midwife/doctor.

hope that helps
rowan

Same here, it felt exactly the same as PMS at first.
Hi Micky! I am expecting my 3rd on Jan. 2 and had been experiencing cramping with spotting around 6-8.5wks. The mw I spoke with says cramping is more typical with 3rd or subsequent pgs since the uterus works harder stretching things out to make room for another baby. So, I don't know if this helps, but she also suggested I drink lemom balm tea, it relaxes the uterus and the mind as well.
