What's up with that?

I have been opening the salt shaker and just going to town (sea salt btw). I'm drinking at least 40oz of water before noon and then usually another 20oz+ after.

I don't feel unhealthy. Just wondering if you mamas have any idea why I might be such a salt and water fanatic lately!

Is it really hot where you are? Are you sweating more than usual from cleaning/nesting/sports/heat? It just might be your body wanting to replenish its electrolytes. Besides, salt helps with water retention. Enjoy!

I have hyperemesis and one of the leading signs for me when Im getting dehydrated is craving salty items and water. Have you tried upping your water intake or trying an electrolyte drink (like gatorade) during the later stages of pg your water intake need can go way up from what *normally* needs

I don't know about the salt, but it's so hot and dry here, I must drink at least 5 litres of water a day...seriously. In addition to my morning tea, RRL tea, yogurt smoothee, and sometimes a glass of orange juice. Between DH and I, we go through 2-3 5-gallon jugs on our water cooler thingee every week. Everywhere I go I bring water, whatever I'm doing I have water near me, if I don't I get really thirsty, really easily.

Just a thought...I consicously drink half my body weight in ounces of water a day (at least). Plus I drink even more now that I am pregnant because the amniotic fluid is being replaced every 3 hours in addition to the needs of water for the rest of my body. I weigh around 190 right now so I drink around 100-120 ounces of WATER a day. If you are drinking only roughly 60ish ozs of water unless you weigh around 100lbs I would say you are not drinking nearly enough.
I also noticed yesterday that being on my feet running errands all day and not drinking enough water I retained a bit of water. So for me that signals that if I keep hitting my target of about 100-120 oz of water a day I will be fine.
Also your electorlytes could be out of balance. If I am sweating alot I try to drink a bit of pedialyte to make sure everything is normal...just a thought.

I am up to about 116 now from 97 at conception. I am only 5ft tall and really tiny boned so I'm not unhealthy stick girl, just a little mama.

I haven't been sweating a lot, but it is hotter here than usual.

I bring my sigg bottle with me everywhere, and I think I probably have an adequate intake. I could always drink more, of course. But seriously, I have to pee every ten minutes coz I'm slamming water all day . . . I try to slow down on it after dinner to avoid so many night trips to the bathroom.

Maybe I will mix up some of that labor-aide that was posted on here back in first trimester? It sounded pretty yummy and might take off some of the salt craving.
