Today I woke up normal, DH went to work etc. Then about 8:30am or so (dd was still asleep thankfully) I felt some moisture in my undies. I thought well maybe I really have to go.<br><br>
Wrong, tons of blood. Totally freaked out of course being this late and all. Called the OB office, called dh home and called ILs to come by (only 5 blocks away thank goodness). Well to make a long story short, they did an u/s and the baby kicked at it right away and was kind of like "Hey whats up" and the heartbeat was 156. My OB checked me and my uteris was closed so no plecenta previa etc, but low lying. So he thinks that the plecenta may have shifted and moved causing some bleeding. But since it natually clots, it should heal itself. But if nothing changes in the next day, call right away. He said take it easy and everything on the u/s looked good.<br><br>
So thats my drama for the day and hopefully month. Scared the daylights out of us but everythings ok. He also said no intercourse until the bleeding stops Duh. I said to him I guess you wouldn't say it if people havent done it and his reply was "Exactly" <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/nut.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="nut">

The bleeding is going down to nothing now and its kind of brown. I am taking it easy and thankfully DH is hoem today. Also if I need to, DILs can come over like they did today.

I'm so glad everything's okay! I had bleeding at 14 weeks with ds. It was terrifying, but turned out not to be anything dangerous (or anything they could find, for that matter). My guess is actually that it was related to a growth spurt, because a day or two later, I started showing. I'm hoping this pg is much more boring!

My wife and I are 13-14 weeks...<br><br>
We were more or less done with the doc, and found a midwife (not covered) and are planning on a home birth.<br><br>
So 3 days ago, my wife has some bleeding (not spotting) and we go to the ER. So the nurse there (very nice) can not figure out how to turn on the ultrasound, so I turn it on for her. We see the heartbeat, so are clearly happy with that. They are not sure what is happening... so we see the midwife the next day, she is calming... gotta love the MW over the OB... since we did heard the heartbeat, but recommends an OB visit... we do go in there and they do an internal ultrasound...<br><br>
So the placenta is in a good location, although at this point they say that does not matter much... but the ultrasound showed that the placenta separated from the uterus a bit. Anyway, uncommon, but not unheard of... So we have been out of it... same story on the blood and sex... no hiking either... We will get another US in a few weeks or so.<br><br>
We were more out of it then anything... once we saw the HB we relaxed...<br><br>
If the universe is ready, so are we!

Welcome Grtfuldad - great screen name by the way. I'm glad to hear that things seem to be fine - it's always nice to hear that heartbeat! Is this your first child?

We have had 3 US and have actually only seen the heartbeat... we have yet to hear it... seeing was good enough for us...<br><br>
Ya this is the first... I think we have finally digested enough of the bs information that we feel like we finally have some clarity on what is happening...<br><br>
The books that are out there are comical... some of the things I have read are unreal... there must be some really stupid people out there...<br><br>
I was suprised to find out in one book that I should not tell my wife she is fat. I sure am glad they told me that... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/duh.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="duh"><br><br>
