As DD's teeth are coming in, I notice that some of them aren't quite as straight as they could be. They have plenty room - she has a wide palate but they aren't straight like I think they should be.

She's still primarily breastfed and I'm ever so slowly contemplating solids. She likes to play with food but eating it isn't so interesting yet.

My own diet is a work in progress, but I do take CLO and soak my grains and legumes. I still supplement (Rainbow Light Prenatals) and I take Trace Minerals in my water. I'm getting ready to start taking SA. We have a source of pastured beef and poultry (yay!)

I'm trying really hard not to add guilt to all this as DH and I both have fairly straight teeth. This wasn't genetics but poor nutrition on my part.

It makes me feel better that these are baby teeth so there's a chance for the permanent ones to be straighter, right?

Don't panic about the baby teeth just yet. My dd's came through at odd angles and with gaps all over the place, and some were even mottled. She's now 2&1/2 and her teeth are straight, the gaps have closed and the colour is even. So give it time and see what happens.

I think there is even possibility with her baby teeth improving. See my thread I just bumped up and see what you think. Don't despair but use this as your impetus to be sure she gets lots of CLO and good mineral foods.

I wouldn't do SA for everyday use, I like amla or acerola powder for natural vit. C with all co-factors.

Well, it's a motivation beyond "I'll feel better if I just eat like this" definitely. Somehow it's easy to discount your own well being (and lazyiness is an amazing force!)

I've been thinking about this all day long and here are some of the conclusions I've come up with.

* I am very likely vitamin D deficient. I've finally worked through my stash of NN and am about to start Garden something or other CLO that's recommended by WAPF. I hope lemon mint isn't so bad in orange juice! Perhaps the extra vitamin D will help here
* My dairy intake is kind of low actually. DD is sensitive to dairy so I end up avoiding it. I'm going to try ghee and hope that this works for her. I think she might be growing out of the sensitivity too so I'll try kefir again this week.
* I need to be better about taking trace minerals in my (filtered) water. One drop in a glass really add up over the course of a day. And the flavor of the water is improved.
* I somehow fell off the bone broth wagon and I need to get back to that.

It's basically about the fats and the minerals now. Am I missing something obvious?

JaneS, regarding SA, the reason I want to take it is because my gums are on the red side perpetually and I'm starting to suspect I might be one of those 'subclinical scurvy' cases. I can't seem to take enough AA to bowel tolerance and I can't experiment now since the acid given DD a red bum. Are amla or acerola powder easier to take? Do you take them the same way SA would be taken? I'd planned to add it and the bioflavinoids powder to some orange juice along with my CLO.

I'm no expert, but I actually think it's normal and not indicative of a problem for widely spaced baby teeth to be a little crooked. The teeth aren't supported by touching other teeth so they may come in at slight angles to each other. I don't know how crooked your child's teeth are, but if they are well spaced and look strong and healthy I wouldn't worry too much. I think it is crookedness caused by CROWDING that is a sign of malnutrition. Of course it NEVER hurts to improve nutrition even more, but as a mommy of a little one, I know how easy it is to obsess over any sign in our child that we haven't nourished them optimally (I obsess over my son's small lower jaw...)
