I thought y'll would appreciate this story since you have children who just think differently.

My DD is 2.5 years old and we took her on her first easter egg hunt in our town on Saturday. They had different sections for each age group so most of the kids with her were 2-3 or so. The organizers had just sprinkled wrapped chocolate eggs of different colors on the ground. The other kids were all grabbing eggs as fast as they could.

My DD, however, sought out only purple ones. She would not pick up any other colors, even with my nudging. So she had a basket full of just purple chocolate eggs. I think that she was adding challenge where there wasn't any or has OCD...

That's so cute. Did the purple match her basket or dress or something? Or did she just latch on to purple for an unknown reason? My DS is really into sorting stuff by colors too.

That reminds me of my ds, who has so called "special needs" (and also his own sort of special gifts)-- I just happened to come by this thread by mistake. Last year just before he turned two, we took him to an egg-dying party and there were paints on the table as well. He refused to do anything but paint white eggs with white paint. It had us cracking up.
