Hi! We just started TTC #2 about a week ago. I have absolutely NO idea where I am in my cycle....I'll explain why.

I have been taking the mini-pill for a long time. However, in the past 6 months I would say I screwed up every single month. I would constantly forget to take it, and therefore, get my period. Sometimes twice a month. So, I never really knew if they were 'real' periods, or just periods because I missed my pill, so I stopped keeping track.

I got a period on May 3rd just as I was going off the mini-pill. I then started a pack of regular strength pills since DD was done nursing. On May 22nd I got my period again because I hit the week of 'blanks' in the pill pack.

Do either of those periods count as a 'real' period or am I just all screwed up? I am now trying to figure out my cycle and if the 5/22 was a real one, then I should be ovulating now based on a 25 day cycle (which is what I was 3 years ago......only thing I have to go on). Confused? I am!

Also, when you ovulate is it normal to feel more, um, in 'the mood' all the time??? Sorry, if TMI. Just wondering if that goes along with it!
Off to try,

Shari

First, no bleed you get while using any hormonal birth control, such as the pill, is a true af because those birth control methods are supposed to supress ovulation. If you don't ovulate, you can't have a true af. What you have is a hormonally triggered bleed.

Your body might go right back to it's normal fertile cycle as soon as you stop taking the pill or it might take 3 months or more before it regulates itself. If you have experience with this from before, you might be able to predict what your body will do. Otherwise, you will just have to wait and see. I think most doctors suggest that you go off the pill for 3 months before expecting to get pg but I have heard of women getting the very next cycle.

To answer your last question, yes, that is very normal. My dh always teases me that he knows when I'm ovulating because he gets a lot sexier and I get a lot more frisky. :LOL

Totally agree with the previous post.

And for the "mood" question, oh yeah. Most definitely .This is one of the reasons it takes a LOT of dedication and willpower to use NFP to avoid pregnancy. You have to NOT have sex on the days you MOST want to (both male and female, becuase the female pheromones make the male want it too!)

If you are ovulating, it is likely you would have cervical mucus/discharge that has a consistency like raw egg whites. If you fold a square of TP , and wipe carefully "down there" then look at the TP, you would be able to see the "egg whites" on there. The sensation may alos be "wet" or "lubricated" during your most fertile time. When things "dry up" down there, ovulation is probably over. Hope this helps!
